Aberdeen's iconic jazz venue The Blue Lamp to close down as owners pen farewell The Gallowgate bar has become an iconic part of the city's music scene since first opening its doors in 1949, but it will now be closing for good at the end of December.

I am very sad to hear that the Blue Lamp will close. I have spent many enjoyable evenings there - for music, poetry, discussion and the odd drink! Such spaces are a vital part of our community. We must work to support such venues so we don't lose more of them!
