Conclusion of Makin Review Process

Following a process to assess clergy under the authority or oversight of the Church of England who are criticised in the Makin Review, a number of disciplinary proceedings have been initiated.

The Makin Review looked at the Church's handling of the allegations of the horrendous abuse by the late John Smyth.

The rigorous process included scrutiny by independent panel members, and assessment by an independent barrister.

Victims and survivors and all those criticised in the Makin Review have been informed and support offered.

A prayer for peace. We could use this right now. Please share.

O God of many names,
Lover of all peoples;
We pray for peace
In our hearts and homes,
In our nations and our world;
The peace of your will,
The peace of our need.

Wonderful to be at Downham Market Methodist Church as part of the West Norfolk Methodist Circuit yesterday for their annual Covenant Service. I always find this service both moving and inspiring. Being brought back to centre in prayer - a time of refreshment and renewal.

An image featuring a text titled "A Prayer for Holocaust Memorial Day".

The prayer reads:

Eternal God, we come before You to remember the victims of the Holocaust.
We lament the loss of the six million Jews who were killed in the Holocaust, the millions of other victims of Nazi persecution, and victims of all genocides.
As we remember and lament all those whose lives have been lost, help us to work for a better future today.
We pray for a day when all shall be free to live in peace, unity and love.
Amen.

Today is Holocaust Memorial Day.

This year marks the 80th anniversary since the liberation of the Nazi concentration and extermination camp Auschwitz-Birkenau.

Pray with us using this prayer from the Council of Christians and Jews. πŸ™

"Never shall I forget that night, the first night in camp, which has turned my life into one long night. Never shall I forget that smoke. Never shall I forget the little faces of the children, whose bodies I saw turned into wreaths of smoke beneath a silent blue sky.” - Wiesel
