I was in a hospital in March with my dying mother. One day some over eager kid starts walking around with an acoustic guitar, going room to room asking if the patients wanted to hear folks songs. Every single room told him to go away. It was the best laugh I got all week.

It’s a tough situation I’ve dealt with a lot this year. First step, get everything organized and centralized. Have a packet with all info - doctors, meds, medical history and update it as needed. I’ve been preaching this to everyone the last few months.

The Pink Pantheress album and the Underworld BoilerRoom set have seriously been highlights of a very rough year. What great energy.

I’m consistently amazed every time I put on an Isaac Hayes record. In addition to his own wonderful music, so many of the songs I loved in the 90’s and 2000’s are built off of samples of his work. This morning it was his album “…To Be Continued” and the Massive Attack song “Exchange”.

In fact last week the church had a little rummage sale where I picked up a cool tube amp for $20. The week before, the small choir did a Joni Mitchell song. Clearly these are music people.

I’ve been going since November. Such a great decision and I’ve met a lot of wonderful people.

I spent covid listening to about 3000 records in order, A-Z. Ended up trashing close to 500.

Feeling the urge to do it again after I tossed a Ventures record last weekend.

It’s kinda hopeful to think that any politician would actually need their government salary.

Man I can’t wait for that reboot.

Those sounds juxtaposed against the kids playing in the yard was absolutely horrifying.

So far, no one has presented a valid reason that I shouldn’t call in sick, cancel all appointments, and spend the day listening to Isaac Hayes while day-drinking.

Just heard someone refer to The Vengabus as “the Six Flags song” and I worry about the future of art.

Hot take: The Shaft soundtrack and a follow-up third movie, Shaft Goes to Africa are badass soundtrack albums. But the sequel…. Shaft’s Big Score? Not so much.

I think that’s the album where Shaft DID cop out when danger was all about.

Southern Fried Film Festival tonight! First time seeing a movie at Lowe Mill. Should be a blast.

My Spotify discover weekly is all liquid drum & bass and Emerson Lake & Palmer. And man, it works.
