HBOMax has started showing a 'remastered' 4K Mad Men and they’ve messed things up so during Roger’s oyster vomit scene you can now see the crew men with the vomit hose on the right

1987 me would have been hugely drawn to a bar of CHUNK but I'd have been dead meat if any of the kids at school saw me eating one.

Had a PTSD shudder when I saw that Morrison’s knock off Tony’s Chocolonely goes by the same name people began calling me after I started to get fat in middle school.

I love how all the Air Force One interviews with Trump look like he’s just coming out of the toilet after a horrific dump.

The first person I thought of when I considered a living painter was Joan Cornella, who paints things like this. Quite telling really.

Both, I think. Even superstar authors tend to mean nothing to most people I know. My heroes are so insignificant to folks outside of the book world that I might as well be making their names up on the spot. I think this is probably the same in most creative industries tbh.

The latest Goodreads review of my first book, Cold Fish Soup. At this point my books should be categorised under β€œNot your usual thing but you’ll probably like it.”

Importantly, everyone listen to Cerys.

As a writer you can sometimes get a little caught up in the successes of others and wonder why it's also not happening for you, so it's reassuring when you discover that the average person in the street has no fucking clue who any of us are.

Absolutely. I already have a wedge pillow, which didn't last long before becoming an uncomfortable pancake. It's mostly for snoring, which I've learned is less of a problem if I prop myself up while sleeping as if I'm The Elephant Man but I'm 50 next year so I know that neck and shoulder pain well.

The Munsters poses the chilling question, what if your parents were a vampire and a Frankenstein? The Addams Family poses the chilling question, what if your parents were openly sexual?

My daughter has been going through the archives of the local paper from the town where I grew up and I’m disappointed there’s no follow up story about the beefs that must have arisen between the organisers of these four simultaneously occurring jumble sales.

This collection of interwoven stories is like a fever dream and Gummerson is an English Vonnegut. I assure you that this statement will make complete sense to you by the time you've reached, I'd say, page 6. What a bloody delight.

A collection of overlapping short stories set in a fictionalised version of Saltburn-by-the-Sea, featuring mermaids, a foetus museum, and a psychic piece of ass, among other bizarre elements. Yes, this book is surreal, but it's also a biting commentary on capitalism, war & homophobia. At its heart is the outsider, a boy who doesn't fit in, sometimes because of his sexuality, sometimes because he turns into a girl at midnight. It has some very bleak moments but also parts that made me laugh out loud. A great read if you enjoy the bizarre, and aren't squeamish about gay sex (which there's a LOT of) #reader #readersofinstagram #books #booklover #bookstagram

In the Magic Mirror reflects the disillusionment that colored much of Paul Klee's work following the Nazi takeover of Germany in 1933 and the artist's subsequent move to his native Switzerland.Illustrating what Klee called his method of "taking a line for a walk," a meandering red line twists and turns down the center of the canvas, delineating the features of a face. The tight curves on the brow suggest the figure is concentrating, while the tension between the nose and mouth, which pull in opposite directions, conveys anxiety. In contrast to the cheerful pink cheeks, the figure's tear-shaped eyes communicate distress. The thinly painted, ghostly outline of the head and shoulders is in contrast to the crisp rendering of the face. Klee paints the heart, the true creative center, black, thereby suggesting the pall that settled over this figure, and by extension, the artist at this time.
