He was becoming insufferable with his β€œfree speech absolutist” nonsense

I feel glad that I canceled my Stratechery subscription last year. I used to enjoy his takes but he has become an insufferable AI booster

Looks very realistic! Is that 45mm gauge?

The comments section of CalculatedRisk was my go to place during the 2005-2010 period. It was especially great when Tanta was contributing

Wishing you a happy Festivus!

This is insane- could there possibly be a more expensive way of generating power?

My all time favorite movie!

It’s absolutely the case that people are getting addicted to chatbots! Check out /r/chatgpt on Reddit- some of the postings are crazy

I’ll bet one of the AI companies did AB testing and found greater engagement despite the cringeworthy responses. (Just signed up for your show on Patreon incidentally)

The very fact that they are considered equivalent tells you that models are becoming a commodity. Cost of inference and reach are becoming more important. Google+ Apple will be ascendant

Beautiful model! Is that a Harz mountain model?

Not a surprise at all. AI (in the form of LLMs) is being crammed down on to the workforce from the top management. Expect the pushback to grow

Really enjoyed this podcast episode- which is why I started following you here. I found myself agreeing with a lot of your positions

If you have some programming skills, you could create this using an ESP32 and a relay very easily.

The latest episode of Animal Spirits was really pretty bad. You both have the shallowest possible take on the AI bubble.

Example: I spent a month reading about the history, politics and geography of Thailand to create my own itinerary for our vacation there. Read several books. Discovered many fascinating facts along the way. If something really matters to me, this is just much more valuable for me

There’s a difference between researching a subject yourself and getting a research report done by someone else or an LLM. I like the process of studying a subject and determining which sources are reliable for myself. It helps that I’m retired and don’t have any need to hurry the process.

Most people working in the cutting edge of AI seem to have no long-term plan for their unsustainable work habits.

Maybe UA could get these to replace their ancient 767s which keep breaking down a lot!

After a long gap, another layout update. Just finished the roads on the far end of the layout in the industrial area. Now to get on with adding textures #modeltrains

Agentic Browser Security: Indirect Prompt Injection in Perplexity Comet The security team from Brave took a look at Comet, the LLM-powered "agentic browser" extension from Perplexity, and unsurprisingly found security holes you can drive a truck through. The vulnerability...

Some notes on the insecurity baked into Perplexity's Comet "AI Browser" - the Brave security team reported serious prompt injection vulnerabilities in it, but Brave themselves are developing a similar feature that looks doomed to have similar problems simonwillison.net/2025/Aug/25/...
