No bill goes through without parliamentary debate!

Stop lying!

There have also been plenty of debates in the commons and Westminster hall which have covered water ownership models.

Most are not tax dodgy wealthy people.

Most are just ordinary British citizens working, holidaying or just passing through.

They are but an insignificant minority of the people there. An irrelevance in the big picture.

What would make us hated is turning our back on Oman, Jordan, UAE, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar and others who have asked for our help in defending these countries from the Iranian missiles and drones, when none were involved in the US and Israeli attacks.

Not if it's going to be defined as defensive in international law.

It must meet specific criteria.

Targeting obvious weapons stores and launch sites to prevent missile and drone launches falls under that.

Most other things would not.

Are you for real?

How the hell do you get 200,000 people out of a region that is under attack from missiles and drones?

You can plan for it and attempt it, but no large scale evacuation can happen while missiles are being fired.

It will all be there for all to see....where the planes go, what they do.

If anything isn't what was approved then the approval ends.

Because that isn't what this is about.

This is about children and usage.

The stuff you speak about is being done elsewhere.

Go back and listen to the full statement by the Secretary of State in the House of Commons from a few weeks back.

The page literally says the consultation is going live at 10:30am this morning...

The cause of the issue almost doesn't matter right now - the legality of the attacks can all be settled later.

Right now, what matters is that countless innocent civilians across many countries that were NOT involved in the initial attacks are being targered and need defending.

Well said. Truth matters more than anything today.

Second only to listening to the PMs statement in full from last night, this thread an important read!

02.03.2026 09:45 — 👍 45    🔁 15    💬 2    📌 1

You seems to be suggesting that it's OK to stop missiles, except if they are going to Israel...so my statement and question is a natural assumption from that...

02.03.2026 09:43 — 👍 1    🔁 0    💬 2    📌 0

He seems to want Israel civilians, British and other foreign nations, journalists and aid workers in Israel to be killed...not to mention how close it all is to Gaza and the West Bank within Palestine...strange knots people are tying themselves in to over this.

02.03.2026 09:41 — 👍 2    🔁 0    💬 1    📌 0

But the approval from UK bases is for defensive action to take out missiles and launch sites.

02.03.2026 09:39 — 👍 3    🔁 0    💬 0    📌 0

Well, if you stop the missiles, you protect everywhere.

Plus there are likely thousands and thousands of British citizens, journalists, aid workers etc in Israel.

So you want see them continued to be bombed?

Jordan, Kuwait, Bahrain, Cyprus, Qatar, Oman, UAE and others - all of which the UK PM has spoken to over the week and who were not involved in the US and Israeli attacks, but are now under fire from Iran, whose citizens are dying and many of which have asked for our help.

Here is my post from last night.

It also has a link to the full 5+ minute statemement from the PM.

I wouldn't trust anything I read in the media right now without having first carefully listened to what the PM said.

If you don't have Instagram, then the video is also on Youtube & likely elsewhre.

The alternative in allowing them to be used for defensive action is to allow for more and more missiles and drones to be fired in the direct of British troops, British citizens and innocent civilians.

I'll put you on the list of people who are happy with more of these groups dying. Good grief!

To not do everything legally possible to defend allies who have asked for our help, who are under attack in a conflict they did not start.

What do you want? The bodies to start lining up, just so you can feel good about sticking a finger up to Trump?

Digusted in the number of people who don't want the UK to do everything legally possible to protect the 200,000 British citizens in the Middle East.

To not do everything legally possible to defend British troops in bases across the region.

Yes. Quite a few who I thought were sensible people seem to be hypocritical and reactionary right now, becoming the very thing I thought they liked to call out when others do it.

02.03.2026 09:08 — 👍 9    🔁 0    💬 1    📌 0

Using all legal means to protect British citizens and to come to the aid of allies who have been caught up in a conflict they did not start, is a red line.

So you'd rather see the bodies piling up, than see necessary action taken to stop that?

Absolute madness to suggest that. Get a bloody grip!

Tell me you've not listened to the PMs speech in full without telling me...

02.03.2026 08:24 — 👍 7    🔁 0    💬 1    📌 0

Read the article I linked to where it sets out the failings.

The historical context and issues may be well done. But it sort of ignores and best and misrepresents at worst the last 18 months.

02.03.2026 07:59 — 👍 1    🔁 0    💬 1    📌 0

The case was perfectly made in the PMs direct statement that was made last night.

It was a full description of the entire situation and could not have been made any better.

The issue is people not listening to it and making assumptions based on a media headline.

02.03.2026 07:47 — 👍 21    🔁 5    💬 3    📌 0

Sort of getting the US to fix some of the problems it has just caused by launching the initial attacks.

The security of UK citizens, British troops in the region and coming to the aid of targeted nations asking for our help is the right thing to do and all legal means must be used.
