Credits where due though, 7 does have some excellent designs on some of the creatures, e.g. absolutely love the cabirs and green/emerald dragons (linked), and by most accounts it's a good game *when it works*, but yeah, Ubisoft. Welp!

Yeeeeah, 6 and 7 were... Okay? Like the quality of the work was decent enough but they just didn't feel right. I have more nostalgia for 3, but 5 is a hella worthy sequel IMO. Also shoutout to it being the first game in the series with a good fireball effect for the namesake spell. :V

HoMM5 may have been a bit divisive (honestly i liked it a lot, especially after all updates and expansions) but the pit lord design was so fuckin awesome that they kept that direction for it in future games too, it is SO MUCH COOLER than Horned Red Man with Whip™ :V
