My line on BBCr4 Today on the Iran strikes was this. Last June there were intensive US/Iran talks under way. Aborted by Israeli strikes on Iran which US joined. I think this is similar. The US-Iran-Oman talks seemed to be going well. Netanyahu preempted, and Trump felt he had to follow 1/5

The Mail living up to its reputation again.
Vile, racist and deliberately divisive.

Too many who should know better are backing this war. It wouldn't be happening if a) Trump were a remotely serious president who knew the risks of embarking on something whose aims he still can't specify, and b) Netanyahu wasn't embracing regional chaos as his get out of jail free card.

Using boilerplate messaging that would use for George Galloway about Hannah Spencer personally & how she will approach being an MP is tin eared, graceless, implausible to the immediate audience (Labour MPs) and esp the broader one (Labour waverers/switchers) underpinned by the wrong strategy

Netflix Backs Out of Bid for Warner Bros., Paving Way for an Ellison Takeover

The richest man owns X.

The second and third richest men control Google.

The fourth richest man owns Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp.

The fifth richest man owns The Washington Post.

And now the sixth richest could soon take over both Paramount and Warner Bros.

See the problem here?

Labour has to be much more precise in crticising Green policy - focusing on issues, particularly defence, where there is a genuine uneasiness from progressive bloc voters.

Labour have alienated the voters they had on the left, and failed to win over any of the voters they have courted on the right. Now their core appeal is all but gone and ever growing numbers of voters have exit options on the left, right and in the centre.

Welcome to the Valley of Electoral Death.

Extraordinary that in these fractious & divided times, so many of us can unite around the single, simple fact that Matthew Goodwin is an irredeemable twat.

It's all, ultimately, about #Brexit. Until the lies, delusions and fantasies are addressed, and the liars and charlatans are held to account the country cannot move on

'On devolution, Labour is on the wrong lines' - LabourList Repeated delays to the Leeds and Bradford tram undermine growth, green policy and trustβ€” real devolution is the only answer.

Add this to the inexplicably moronic decision to delay the #Leeds tram and you have a government determined not to improve transport links in some of its most important constituencies. It's dreadful policy and awful politics labourlist.org/2026/01/devo...

I'm coining the term Midland Mainline man (and woman). There are dozens of marginal seats along this rail line from Leicester and Nottingham to Sheffield and Labour is currently telling them they will continue have a 19th century railway. Breaking decarbonisation promises and pissing off voters....

I don't want to over interpret #HeidiAlexander but it's shocking that the Tories electrified 100s more miles of our railways than the last Labour gov and she cancelled the Midland Mainline electrification saying it's "not affordable right now" researchbriefings.files.parliament.uk/documents/SN...

Keir Starmer's government have opted for caution to the point of cowardice and unpleasant reaction that only benefits the right. There's no angry denunciations of the #Brexit catastrophe, only a wail that it was botched. Truly the politics of the inept and incompetent

When you're elected on a pledge of β€œchange”, however vague, and then carry on with the previous government's awful policies you have a credibility problem. When those policies were manifest failures and are contrary to other parts of your own manifesto, then you have a much more profound problem.

shotgun not me but think there's scope here for a proper, lengthy, meaty feature looking at every single policy area in Britain that's currently fucked specifically because of a decision George Osborne took, reckon you could make it an actual mag cover, his fingerprints are everywhere

This is a fantastic idea. Tempted to go away and devise a complete map on this basis (is this evidence for an ADHD assessment? I think so). Enfield North would be Freezy Water. Dagenham & Rainham would be Whalebone. I’d probably still be in Holborn as there’s a deficit of funny names here.
