The question, IMO, is really whether running as a democrat necessarily makes you dependent on the party. Omar Fateh in Minneapolis, for instance, has a generally antagonistic relationship with the state party.

Frankly it's just embarrassing to be identifying as a liberal today. Liberalism is collapsing into fascism, again! Do you need to see it a third time before you realize the inevitable result of your ideology?

To me, democratic socialism is meaningful mainly in opposition to modern social democracy. It is, or should be, a rejection of the antimarxist, anticommunist, and singlemindedly reformist tendencies. Not all who use the label are marxists, but those who do ought to find common cause with marxists.

Also, you probably understand this but food and resources were shared in hunter gather societies.

Capital is not just having things. It is a product of accumulated labor that employs living labor in service of that accumulated labor. A hammer in my closet is not capital.

Class in a historical sense is not determined by how much capital you have. Class being determined by ownership of capital is a feature of capitalist society. Class means the ruling and the ruled classes. Having more food than someone else does not make you a ruler.

Please articulate the difference between democratic socialism and communism

Given the left and center won a majority of leadership positions, it is probably safe to say a 1 state solution held majority support among DSA convention delegates.

Second, the article mentions the DSA rejected calling for a "single secular Palestinian state." However, this resolution did not fail because of dems. Instead, it failed because the left objected to the "secular" part of the resolution, while the right objected to cementing the one state solution.
