Your regular reminder that since August of last year, Mr. Abrego has agreed to be deported to Costa Rica, but the Trump admin refuses to do so because they want to instead punish him by sending him to an African country that will most likely detain and then deport him to El Salvador for the admin.

The horror stories rolling in from Minnesota are just the tip of the iceberg. This 20-year-old, who's lawfully present in the country, was arrested for being Latino, then jailed in a filthy cell where he couldn't even sit down. 18 days of illegal detention. democracyforward.org/wp-content/u...

ICE agents crashed directly into a 19-year-old refugee's car, pulled him out from the wreck, threw him on the ground, then rushed him off to detention before he could locate the immigration papers in his car that proved he's here lawfully. democracyforward.org/wp-content/u...

Immigration was not a problem, but people like you spouting the Republican line that it is are precisely why weโ€™re here. Nothing mainstreams right wing lies faster than liberals engaging with them as if theyโ€™re good faith arguments and not just a cover for bigotry

18.02.2026 02:01 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 29    ๐Ÿ” 1    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 3    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

THIS. Undocumented immigrants have, simply, never been a real problem. They pay a huge amount of taxes and get no services. They drive many industries. And the rate of crime committed by immigrants pales in comparison to non. The correct answer all along was "this isn't a real problem."

16.02.2026 18:41 โ€” ๐Ÿ‘ 0    ๐Ÿ” 1    ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0    ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

And we should remind everyone that Dems and the GOP HAD a bipartisan immigration bill ready to go โ€“ and Trump squelched it because he wanted to campaign on runaway immigration. And now we see why.

โŒWhen they responded to Trump I's wall proposal with mass surveillance

โŒTheir shameful responses when GOP governors bussed migrants to blue states

โŒHyping a bipartisan xenophobic bill denounced by immigrant rights organizations

โŒFolded on a bill when they should have challenged its sensationalism

There was never any border crisis and when you pretend that there is *some* kind of problem with the system to placate Rs, you allow them to paint immigration as the problem itself. What should have been a full throated defense of immigration became a bigger crackdown at the border

Opinion | Long covid has derailed my life. Make no mistake: It could yours, too. No matter how immortal we feel, we are all โ€” still โ€” at risk of developing crushing, life-altering symptoms.

Finished and man what a beautiful book this still is. And Miller only surpasses it with CIRCE. Part of the reason Iโ€™m so intense about masking is I read her op-ed on long covid and I think of the art we wonโ€™t experience bc of what sheโ€™s had to go through.

The last Year of the Fire Horse began in '66 & saw anti-war protests & civil rights struggle. It was the year Rev. Jackson left seminary to join Dr. Kingโ€™s Freedom Movement.

May 2026 bring New York the same bold change people deserve.

J.J.B. is 20 years old, and a refugee. (J.J.B. Decl. ยถ 1.) On January 13, 2026, J.J.B.

Officers did not allow J.J.B. to tell his mother that he was being detained. (Id. ยถ 5.)
J.J.B. asked agents about his case, and explained that he had refugee status, but
agents said that officers would look into it in Texas. (Id. ยถ 11.) Without access to a lawyer,
J.J.B. did not know how to exercise his rights. (Id. ยถ 17.) Even if he had known how to ask
a court to order his release, it was impossible to send mail or email, so he could not have
done so. (Id.)
J.J.B.โ€™s holding cell at Whipple โ€œcould not hold more than 20 peopleโ€โ€”yet it was
packed with 100. (Id. ยถ 12.) The room had a dirty toilet with excrement overflowing. (Id.)
J.J.B. had to ask for toilet paper, but was sometimes denied. (Id.) There were no beds,
blankets, or trashcans, and trash was all over the ground. (Id. ยถ 13.) People slept in
handcuffs and standing up because there was not enough room. (Id.) One person in J.J.B.โ€™s
cell had epilepsy and begged for medication; no one answered. (Id.)

July 16, 1960: Greenville Eight Stage Read-In at Local Library In an act of civil disobedience against the whites-only Greenville County Public Library, eight young Black people entered the library, began reading, and were subsequently arrested. They became known...

That's 18 yo college freshman Jesse Jackson on the left & the seven hs students he organized for a silent sit-in at a segregated library.

"Although Greenville was not the first library system to integrate in SC, it was the first to do so as a result of public demonstrations by the Black community."
