but really all my barok art has the same themes and metaphors going on if you look at them closely

from earlier this year: a kind of quick doodle that i liked so much i decided to polish it slightly. thinking of redrawing it someday 🤔🤔🤔🤔

even with dick and bruce they dont Really have much of an age gap too..... and its so interesting to me that in a few comics they also have a blurred line between best friends / brothers / father-son like aught. and YEAH. YEAH IRIS-BAROK DAMIAN-DICK i see it

- grew up with (relatively) happy childhood until losing parents - to me klint and barok operate similar to bruce and dick where bruce kinda sorta relies on dick to maintain his happiness (his light) and klint sees barok as his main reason to get up at the end of the day and continue on his pursuit - this is not good for dick and barok respectively but it doesn't hit until a little later - AND also is forced to take on their respective 'mantles' (batman and reaper) later which they aren't actually really suited for because they (and others) believe it is needed for society - extra notes: the acrobat-ballerina extreme control over self.........

the harmless bruhavey baby.... yeah he is literally so bruce to me too. and also hear me out i think he is dick grayson as well but you have to just walk with me through my headcanons slightly

also ☝️ i like to think he does actually have scars from a previous acid attack because they were actually really common around the time iirc? (and i think there was an sherlock holmes story that featured it??) its just not the face and somewhere else on his body

I ALSO CAME TO THIS CONCLUSION ALSO. awhfhfj see maybe he is bruce (tragedy leads to pursuit of justice) but barok thinks / is afraid that hes harvey (recieves facial disfigurement as punishment and acting out in anger)

Barok van Zieks and Adelaide return home from their Christmas tree hunt, Barok singlehandedly carrying the freshly cut tree by his own power. A bundled up Addy looks on in enamored awe.

It's the 1st of December so Addy and Barok have gone and cut their tree for the season~

kyaaa-ing rn like we know the van zieks canonically had a distaste for the rich so i think taking it as a symbol of their wealth as well would be so good also
