figuring out visuals for double's "birth" lol. i recently discovered blaschko's lines; lines of skin cell proliferation during development of the fetus. so i thought it'd be cool to work that in with some tech motifs! just walking the line between real and unreal.

some ship tasks require processing time. in case you had nothing to do while waiting, you could do enrichment tasks like exercise/watch tv. it'd pass the time and add to the few nice memories you have of double (in low-stakes scenarios they get along pretty well).

as you progress towards your destination you harness energy from nearby stars. some of these are completely real, some are varying levels of fake/hypothetical. i didn't want to use only existing stars, since apparently most are red flare stars and that'd be boring.

i love figuring out the style of new projects, not that the final game will look anything like these drawtobers (ideation's just easier in 2d for me). defs gonna be trading expressiveness for the benefits of 3d but i think it'll look super cool. :3

how the procedure works: nano particles are injected into the host's brain. their polarity attracts them to seldom used neural paths. a micro computer collects data from the particles and processes it into sensory information, giving the double a form.

over time (especially if exposed to radiation) plastic degrades, cracks and crumbles into dust. thankfully pi can collect the pieces/particulates, input it into a 3d printer and rebuild the broken system! it's only a real pain when it all breaks down simultaneously.

pi has a work outfit, thermoregulator (worn under spacesuit + during cryosleep), and space suit. atm the game is first person pov with dialogue portraits from the shoulders up. might add third person pov scenes to better show her design/character actions though!

Free consultation and installation through the federal cryo-pilot program. Use requires store of macronutrients, water and electricity. Delayed cryosleep may cause withdrawal symptoms including but not limited to fatigue, dizziness, nausea, migraine, seeing, hearing, and feeling things that aren’t there, clammy skin and death. Occupational use only." also on the page are two images, one of the cryopod, a coffin-like bed with a padded interior. the second image is a cross-section of the umbilical with three meaty tubes inside. below this image is the caption "Latches neatly onto your low profile navel plug!"

all cryopilots connect to the pod via umbilical every night. their blood is drawn and their body is fed before entering ice-crystal free glass transition temperatures. to avoid shock they're thawed slowly and enter regular sleep cycles before waking normally.

Sooo versatile, and the transition between pink and blue is pretty thematic! ... option 1's a good wordmark, but option 2's charming in a petscop kinda way, and doesn't take itself too seriously. option 1's a bit gritty but the 8-bit helps. i'll probably mash-up the two by the time we have to market this (which won't be for a looong while).

8 hours of real biological sleep are tacked onto the end of pi's cryosleeps (since being frozen doesn't exactly do the reparative work that sleep does). so she still dreams, which is great because i eat highly interpretable dream imagery for breakfast. :b

for #PILOTONE, i think it'd be cool to focus on the emptiness of space instead of Cool-Sci-Fi-Things™ like nebulas, aliens, etc. sounds boring but there're ways to include that stuff w/o breaking the theme of isolation, like featuring them around distant endings/dreams.

"...and Miya, fearsome huntress, silently stalks her prey..." A crouched ragdoll cat watches the little clockwork mouse skitter by. "...which never sees it coming!!" She leaps into the air with a MYAAAA, and pounces on the toy. "Gotcha!! Another successful takedown!" "That makes 5-to-6! Almost 50% successes today! Miya is the best hunter~" Proud of her accomplishment, she purrs and holds up the little toy mouse. Just then, Aaron, orange cat, peeks his head around the corner. "Woah cool! Is that one of those little pounce trainer toys? Dude, I haven't seen one of those since I was a kitten! Could I have a turn?" ... ...a training toy... ...for kittens... ...and she had than a 50% success rate... Miya curls up on her side and hugs her knees. Aaron is a bit confused. weird one today. the images point to pi's final destination star system. if you know your stars, you could infer the destination + work backwards to identify the images and how they connect. if it's impossible, sorry! i'll explain it after the game's published.

🧩 turn-around sheet of queen meowkshake. her body is a diner-style milkshake/sundae glass, and her head is a scoop of strawberry ice cream resting on top. she has two halved strawberry ears. her crown is made of whipped cream and topped with a cherry and rainbow sprinkles. she has a whipped cream scarf and trim on her cape, the former of which is covered in chocolate sprinkles. reminiscent of a stereotypical royal cloak with fur scarf/trim. the cloak itself has a plaid napkin design. her arms and tail are made of straws, and she has a glass sundae septre!
