Violins in rock/pop songs are dangerous! So are parades of two minute songs that all run together like the GBV version of the Feelies. Freaking kryptomite, a bottomless pit of wanting it again and again until there’s nothing left, only life.

Califone- one of their first cds, eventually it popped up on a very good comp Sometimes Good Weather Follows Bad People. Talk about a band with a vision from the get go. Still nothing like it. Electronics, dub, and stoned country anthems, thank you very much

Had been playing this to death for the last few weeks when the stars aligned and it popped up used at Grapefruit. I just love this one, it’s got all the right moves. Signature explosive blowouts, seven layer lyrical sandwiches, candle lit romance, the works.
