True. I suppose if we asked for example what the plot of Pride and Prejudice is it's really one interpersonal conflict linked to another and another with a lot of acid wit mixed in. The important part is that the writing is good and interesting.

That's very true. I'm only trying to follow that advice because it's common writing advice from people who I assume know more than me, but it might not necessarily work.

It's usually interpersonal stuff between characters, good for a scene but nothing that could drive a whole novel.

My main issue is characterisation, I think. I have trouble figuring out character conflicts and motivations that drive the plot forward. I have trouble with that "what misconceptions about the world drive your character?" question because I overanalyse things myself and so do my characters.

Also I will probably delete this and I don't post about it a lot because what's happening in America has me spooked. I don't want the domino effect to hit my country and I end up picking fruit at a forced wellness retreat and can't see my kid. Before I'd consider that an outlandish fear, but now? 🤷

And yeah, I do think being on the spectrum is related, because I find a lot of character motivations (which drive plots) to be unrelatable.
Now that my film career is dead my main motivation in life is to avoid getting wet.
