This is not resetting my clock of clean time. Still at 362 days.

But damn, even being my own loudest advocate couldn't keep this from happening. Shameful.

I don't know why this occurred, and I don't count it as a relapse, a slip, or anything else like that.

Shouldn't all of that information have been a giant flashing red beacon to not give an opiates to someone in recovery???

I am not furious about this, just upset.

The note was from the only person I do not recall meeting.

It is the list of drugs administered to me to put me under, during the procedure, and to bring me back out.

Despite telling every person I could, and having 2 items on my body, a bracelet and medical tag, this doctor gave me fentanyl.

I wake up this morning, still in a cloud. I stay in bed until after 12. Finally felt good enough to move. I look at my test results and notes about the procedure.

Something catches my eye in the anesthesia notes.

Same doctor, same office. I had to inform them all over again about the medication and it's effects. The nurse, the other nurse, the other other nurse, the anesthesiologist. They all were informed.

Procedure goes well, I go home, but I feel fucked up. But, whatever, I was just on propofol.

At my first appointment, but they were all very professional, accommodating, and intrigued by it.

They made sure nothing in my course of treatment, going under, and post-op care, would involve opiates.

Flash forward to yesterday, the whole process began again like the first one never happened.

I am on a monthly injection, Vivitrol, that blocks receptors for both alcohol and opiates. I had a problem with alcohol. It has worked very well. I have had barely any craving over the last 10 months.

I told the nurses, the doctor, & the anesthesiologist about this. They had never heard of it.

2/

Had a procedure yesterday where I had to be put under.

Everything was fine, nothing to be concerned about, just finishing something they couldn't from a previous appointment.

Now, I am pretty vocal about my being in treatment and pretty serious about my sobriety. 1/?

Shucks.
