02.12.2025 08:43 β π 5 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0Some donβt understand that demonising refugees& asylum seekers is a red line for any healthy nation. As a group of people, like any other, they include the brilliant, good & bad, but labelling them as lesser humans undeserving of compassion, safety & equality is definitely bad for the whole country.

A nation that demonises people fleeing war and terror and constantly paints them as lesser humans is a nation without a heart. Thatβs the path weβre on and we must not blindly walk it.

29.11.2025 15:40 β π 29 π 3 π¬ 5 π 1Just watched a local production of My Fair Lady and it was indeed loverlyβ¦ but isnβt it about time they change the ending? Just why does Eliza go back to Henry Higgins (to find him his slippers) after 3 hours of non-stop misogyny? π
28.11.2025 23:07 β π 21 π 2 π¬ 3 π 0I feel angry about the all hostile narratives propagated against immigrants. It's socially hard for an ethnic minority woman to express anger but nevertheless I feel I must. Anger is the appropriate emotion here with such gross unfairness & public harm. Let's give eachother permission to express it.

See? Thatβs the problem!
Good morning, while everyone is waiting for the budget to be announced itβs a good time to say that immigration is a source of prosperity for the UK and painting Britain as a hostile state is sabotaging the country. Thanks!

26.11.2025 07:44 β π 734 π 195 π¬ 17 π 4It's important not to normalise spreading germs around. If someone is ill with respiratory symptoms encourage them to self-isolate and not attend in person any work or social events (if they can afford it)... or at the very least wear a mask. Haven't we learnt anything from the pandemic?

25.11.2025 22:03 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0The growing economic footprint of international students The economic impact of international students in the UK surged from Β£31.3 billion in 2018/19 to Β£41.9 billion by 2021/22. On average, every parliamentary constituency in Britain benefits by Β£58 million. Some regions rely more heavily than others on this influx of global talent. In Sheffield, for example, international students contribute around Β£770 million annually to the cityβs economy, while across Yorkshire and the Humber, that total exceeds Β£2.9 billion. In cities such as Leicester, Exeter, Nottingham, and Dundee, universities are among the leading exporters, accounting for up to 15% of total local exports. These figures show how universities serve as economic anchors, especially outside the Southeast. International students contribute through tuition, housing, local spending, and by supporting jobs in retail and hospitality.
Another excellent blog from #HEPI, focused upon the economic benefits driven by international students within the UK.

I don't really get how social norms haven't shifted in that direction after the life-changing pandemic we all went through. It's not rude or insulting to try to avoid getting infected. It's sensible and protective of self and others.

I see the rising wave of voices & arguments justifying the rising levels of racism as the most sinister political development in 2025 on the British landscape.

Some people mistake making connections & networking with subservience & authority-pleasing. Wrong. You can be an effective influencer on real life outcomes even with saying non-conforming stuff. This is how we make meaningful change. Donβt believe that agreement is always the route to getting heard.
