Why are people hashtagging β€˜give to gain’ for #IWD2026 without clarifying who gives and who gains?
Women have been giving across time and history for the gain of the patriarchy, so no, this is not for us, thank you!

What does it really mean to say Happy International Women’s Day beyond cliches, tick box exercises & marketing?
To me it means I’m with you my sisters in your struggles. I understand & empathise. I acknowledge our struggle as a source of both suffering & strength. We grow together. You’re not alone.

Good morning β˜€οΈ
A thought for today:

Social media can be a negative place to be. We have no obligation to consume negativity but we can also regard bad news as an incentive for us to produce more kindness, compassion & love for ourselves and others.

I love taking photos of nature. I’m not necessarily very good at it but it gives me joy. Just the act of stoping and taking the time to take the photo makes a difference to my day. That pause to enjoy beauty and appreciate the opportunity to witness it, especially during tough times.

Thinking of my Iranian friends with families in Iran and also all the worried people in that region of the middle east. No matter which side you’re on, war always means fear & chaos to those experiencing it. My heart particularly goes out to the children hearing or fearing the bombs. Been there 😒

Our paper on Symptom Patterns, Recovery, and Impact of
#LongCovid is now published. This is follow up data over 1 yr. Note how the pattern of symptoms changes over time with most starting out as fluctuating pattern and more ending up with a constant symptom pattern.

You trust someone and they betray you.
That’s not a mistake.
That’s learning in the school of life.
The goal is not to avoid living.
The goal is believing in your power to fully experience it.

What’s β€˜family voting’ and β€˜Sectarianism’ refer to here, I wonder?

Are they by any chance hinting to muslim men forcing the females in their households to vote for a white female plumber who belongs to a Party led by a gay Jewish man? πŸ€”

Thank you for the laughter this morning btw. I needed it πŸ˜‚

I’ve got nothing to fear from the Greens. I don’t recognise them as extreme. I recognise them as hopeful. But we’re in an era when daring to hope is regarded as unsettling, destabilising .. and maybe even extreme…

Comparing fuel pumps to electric vehicle public chargers

There are now almost twice as many public electric car charging points in the UK as there are petrol/diesel fuel pumps, a government analysis has found.

Obviously it's not a perfect like-for-like comparison given recharging/fuelling times, but symbolically important.

As the analysis starts of the Gorton and Denton result, I wanted to flag some aspects that my experience yesterday suggests are being over or under-played

(Caveats - I went to Longsight, Gorton and Denton town centres and spoke to as many people as I could, but it was mostly during the working day)

You know, reflecting on the two recent Reform by-election losses, you do wonder if their appeal among the British public is being hyped up by our dear media a bit?
And despite the hype they’re not winning.
