I sadly don't remember her name but she was so patient with me and loved hearing me talk about my guinea pigs and animals in general, unlike my regular teacher who would basically call me annoying for info-dumping lmao. She also didn't get angry at me for drawing in class and actually encouraged me

Late to the party but gosh I had similar experiences all throughout grade school. Turns out most teachers were not equipped to treat a kid with severe undiagnosed anxiety and autism with respect and patience, but I remember a substitute teacher from 5th grade who was actually really nice to me aha

as a neurodivergent & also weird kid school was hell for me, though these days I struggle to remember the names of all the teachers who bullied me. But the three that treated me like a person have never left me. Now more than ever, I hope you all try your best to stay unsquishable!

oops sorry for rambling again; just been thinking about social media and what I want for myself as things continue to rapidly change online

I also desperately wanted to be able to take regular commissions and otherwise monetize my art, but now that I have less time and energy to actually draw I'd much rather create for myself than for others

Kinda funny how I so desperately wanted my art to blow up online when I was a kid (and part of me still wants that), but now as an adult I would much prefer to have a small group of friends I actually know and talk to as opposed to thousands of strangers in the void who glance at my stuff once

I've honestly been thinking about making my own blog or website; something quiet where likes and reshares aren't the main focus and I can instead focus on just sharing my art for whoever happens to come across it

idk maybe everyone (myself included) is just getting sick of modern social media and moving to greener pastures like private discords or personal websites, stuff you have more control over compared to the bigger tech company platforms

Maybe it's just how much the internet itself has changed in the last ~15 years (with the influx of stuff like ads and ai that makes every website feel artificial and more like a corporation instead of a community) but it feels like there should be SOMETHING like old DA still around

Maaaannnn sometimes I really miss early 2010s deviantart. It actually felt like a community then and it was so much easier to talk to people and make friends. No other art site has really replicated that environment

I've considered making a discord server but I am sooooo bad at keeping up with the ones I'm already in :/

The main reason I'm hesitant to ditch bluesky altogether is bc I genuinely like talking to people on here and it's a lot easier to facilitate discussion compared to just about any other artsy site ;-; I don't wanna disappear from social media completely but online spaces can be so unhealthy

I'll probably delete these later bc the world does not need to know my trauma, but I also think it's important to consider the voices of survivors who don't want every website to be overrun with simulated abuse!

twitter furries tried to groom me as a teenager by trying to convince me that sexualized art of child characters was a-ok and that (offending) pedophiles were misunderstood martyrs, so sorry if I don't subscribe to the mindset that "anything goes"

Genuinely for real this time considering ditching this website. It's just tumblr/twitter with the amount of people who don't see anything wrong with fetishized abuse

The difference is violence/murder is usually depicted as a bad thing, whereas rape is almost always fetishized. Why are whole ass adults still stuck in 2014 middle school

it's 2025 and people are still trying to defend rape culture with "well what about murder in media???"
