three pages playing with three different styles - Archie, street angles and tales from the crypt
three strips - playing with styles of three different cartoonists, Jim Davis, Stephan Pastis, and Charles Schulz
three pages of comics paying home to three styles - Tillie Walden, Tatsuki Fujimoto, Schulz
one page, three styles Bill Watterson Raina Telgemeier and Marnie Galloway
In my intro Making course, a favorite project, students pick 3 comics authors that inspire, influence, aspire to be like to mimic for a comic about themselves for "autobiographical influences". Some stellar examples from this time around 1/3

Photo of an exhibit label on a red brick wall. It says "Tetra Pak Printmaking
The following sampling of prints were made by visitors to our Book Arts Demonstration Day held during the Virginia Festival of the Book in March of 2025.
We made printing plates cut out of Tetra Pak, a material commonly used for packaging food such as broth, oat milk, soups and more.
Guests were invited to "draw" on a piece of Tetra Pak with a pointed awl. Each plate was then inked, wiped clean of excess ink, and run through a small etching press with a dampened sheet of watercolor paper to produce a print.
Tetra Pak printing has become quite popular as a fast, affordable and eco-friendly method of printmaking. Look for classes and demos at Virginia Book Arts in the coming year."
Seen at @virginiabookarts.bsky.social, Liz Schneiders & students' printing using just tetrapaks (eg broth & oat milks cartons!) & tiny plastic Sizzix craft/scrapbooker presses or etching presses #DHmakes

Holy shit, just learned about the typewriter art of Montserrat Alberich Escardรญvol, a Catalan typist. Using an extra wide typewriter and 180 color ribbons, she built up elaborate images from simple characters like 'm' and '.' and ';'. Here is her typewritten painting of the Cathedral of Barcelona.

Title page of the moon bible, which is embossed in the moon tactile code. It says that it is volume one of three and that it was published by the Moon Society, a branch of the Royal National Institute for the Blind in London.
The opening page in the moon bible, which just says "moon" repeatedly across the whole page, embossed in the moon tactile code.
A close-up of the interior spine and margin on a page, which shows the running head that is embossed vertically in the inside margin rather than at the top of the page. The page is embossed in the moon tactile code.
A close-up of the outside margin and top right corner of a recto page, which shows a page number in the very top corner. It also shows parantheses-like markers at the edge of the page, which are used to guide the finger as you read lines back-and-forth. The page is embossed in the moon tactile code.
The Bruce Peel special collections library at UAlberta recently acquired a Bible in moon, and I'm so excitedโyou might even say that I'm over the moon about it.
It's a 1960s reproduction of a mid-1800s volume (moon was invented in the 1840s). Unfortunately. It's only volume 1 (of 3).
