I'm imagining a hand reaching into the roiling flood waters and triumphantly grasping the ladle handle, as one would grab the handle of a sword.
(Sorry, I haven't had my morning coffee yet.)
Excellent!

I really should watch this and the McCullough documentary too - both sides of my family have deep roots there.
Thanks for the recommendation!
Which makes no sense, since pushing people away from bank accounts will only increase money laundering activities.

Ha! *throws cold cut on ceiling*
Same. Well, except I'm probably more 75 Ally and 25 AMH.
Yes!

Ramen.
Not the $25 a bowl stuff in the restaurant, but the $.25 packages one makes at home.
The flavoring packet is basically a salt bath, and I lived on those packets for waaaaay too long in my post-college years, but there's still a lovely comfort food vibe for me.
You have excellent taste!

Oh, Mark Umbers.
*swoon*
Horrifying story - but well done. Especially that kicker.

She's looked at all the documents and realized.....you just haven't earned it yet, baby.
(I know. I'll show myself out.)
Happy PACZKI day to all who celebrate.....my friends in Chicago, Pittsburgh, and all points between and beyond.
I actually can't eat these any more (more than a bite and my GI system would riot) but please, have one for me.
Hilarious.
(But also, ugh, reminded how horrific that book is about gay people and gay sex....)
Agree absolutely. When I lived in WI they let teenagers drink in restaurants with parents present once they were 14 or over (I think it was 14).
I'd regularly see news reports about someone getting their 12th, or 15th, or 18th DUI.
Not even remotely close.
Prior to the album rock era, many artists were known as much for their interpretations of the compositions of others as they were for writing their own music.
There is as much joy, in my humble opinion, in a beautiful interpretation of a song as there is in a wildly unique and original composition.
I get so frustrated w/surveys.....mostly because the replies to any feedback you give is so evasive - no one wants to acknowledge or address any problem.
Online reviews are the same. I gave a local business helpful feedback & they replied "We've never heard this before, it must be you." Um...okay?
All the straight guys and girls call each other "dude," and a lot of gay men call each other "girl."
It's a mixed up, muddled up, shook up world. I approve wholeheartedly.....
I always thought "have a blessed day" was sort of a take on the Southern "bless your heart."
Which I understood to be the words someone says when they can't say f*ck off directly to your face.....
I think returning to college in my forties helped me adapt to a lot of new terminology.
Though "sick" as a synonym for "great" or "amazing" still throws me.
Truth! Lots of people bought and appreciate his music, so of course it made total sense to feature him as the halftime show.
And hey, if we're having throat singing, then the Le Mystère des voix Bulgares are playing too: www.youtube.com/watch?v=glCW...
You're so right, Your Grace.
Whatever the question, cheese is always the correct answer.
I've recently tumbled down the romance rabbit hole...am quite happy there, please send snacks!
Looking forward to reading your work, KJ. And I've been on an Alexis Hall tear.....agree, Pansies was amazing!
Have loved David Strathairn since The Days And Nights of Molly Dodd.

Salmon
Opera (mostly because it was only a idea for years - once I saw and experienced a performance, it clicked)
It's A Wonderful Life (I know, I know)
Laura Nyro
Brian Eno
Was just sitting and reading in a nearby park, and listening as a local production of "Chicago" had a rehearsal (the park includes an amphitheater).
For the rest of the afternoon, my earworm will be:
"The name on everybody's lips
Is gonna be....ROXIE!"
