“I think I've officially won at life,”he says.

She nods slowly, confused. Of course, she's confused, but that doesn't matter to him.

He /has/ won at life.

And he couldn't be happier

But Katsuki still stares, and Izuku still stares. They wear identical smiles and even when the ambulance doors shut, Katsuki's smile doesn't dwindle.

He turns his head towards one of the paramedics. She jumps upon seeing his smile, looks around as if she's about to be pounced on

It's only when they're rolling him into the ambulance do they let go. The tips of their fingers slightly touch just before their hands are completely out of reach from the other.

He squeezes their interlaced hands. Izuku’s expression softens at the gesture. “I'll be waiting.”

“I'll come visit you.”Izuku tells him, walking at the same pace as the moving stretcher. Red still colours the canvas of his cheeks, and Katsuki's heart swells. “It might be a little late as I have papers to grade but-”

But she smiles at him regardless, proudly for that matter. Even as she walks away, he sees the little fist bump she and Todoroki not so discreetly share.

Katsuki does not have the slightest clue why.

When the police and paramedics eventually arrive, they lift him onto the stretcher with the aid of Uraraka whose entire face is flushed in embarrassment, probably from witnessing their kiss.

Izuku trembles in his hold, breathing out a laugh when their noses awkwardly bump each other, and Katsuki grins against his lips, gently pecking him until they fall into a more comfortable pace.

He fights through the pounding headache and the dizziness just to kiss him back. It's a little uncoordinated and their teeth clash a few times, but it's raw. It's real.

It's everything Katsuki wants.

From the distance he hears sirens blaring. In a matter of time, he'll be wheeled off in a stretcher. Seemingly,though, Izuku doesn't give a hoot about any of that as he leans forward and captures Katsuki's lips.

Brushing a thumb over another tear that escapes, he gives him a lop-sided grin.

“Being number one, it wouldn't have been worth it without you here. Even if it took a whole decade or two for the suit to be ready, I will always wait for you.”

Izuku’s eyes widen. His body goes rigid, and Katsuki-he leaves a soft kiss against slightly chapped lips

“I've wanted you since the night you punched me at ground beta.”he says. A tear slides down his cheek. It's not his, but Izuku’s whose lips begin to quiver.

Even through his concussed state, the hope on his freckled face is as clear as day, and Katsuki doesn't know if he should blame that or his concussion for what he does next.

“I’m p-perfectly fine, dammit!”Katsuki yells, sniffing, frowning and pinching Izuku’s cheeks. “I've wanted this. I've wanted /you/ for so long, yet you're treating me like I've gone mad.”

His vision begins to swim. Shit, he really is concussed.

“You… want me?”

“-and now you're here. You're fucking here with me, Izuku.”

He starts laughing and crying hysterically again.

“He looks fine to me.”Todoroki comments.

“Kacchan, please. You shouldn't-you're clearly concussed.”

“Eight years.”Katsuki breathes through the snot, tears and laughter. “Eight fucking years, I waited for you.”

Izuku chokes.“W-waited for me??”

“Hello, this is Uravity. We need the police and an ambulance here pronto-”

Reaching out towards him, Katsuki cups and stains those still squishy cheeks of his with dust. Wide eyes turn to him, the heat crawling up his freckled face makes him squeeze his cheeks like a doting grandmother.

Then, he's laughing. He's laughing and sobbing loudly, and Izuku violently recoils.

“Is he…is he okay?”Uraraka asks.

He's never felt fucking better.

“Can any of you call an ambulance? I think he's concuss-”

The nerd's eyebrows raise in alarm. “Kacchan,what-why are you crying?”

The lump in his throat had finally burst, giving way to hot, stinging tears that mix with the blood and dust on his face.

Even the sunlight that hits him abruptly as the rubble is moved away from his face doesn't make him flinch. It's Izuku’s face coming into view- eyebrows scrunched and eyes swimming in worry- that finally brings a reaction out of him.

Nearby he hears a sickening crunch followed by the heavy slump of someone's body hitting the ground.

The blood that slowly leaks from an open wound on his forehead is barely acknowledged. He lays buried in the pile of rubble unmoving, unblinking.

Not breathing.

Unfortunately for him, Mr Combat skills sees this as an opening, and before Todoroki can stop him, he gives Katsuki a punch that feels like he's been slapped across the face by a concrete pillar.

He flies, torpedoing straight into a nearby jewelry shop.

“Kacchan!”

But to Izuku whose eyes are wide, wild and more alive than Katsuki has ever seen. He's bruised, bloody, and dishevelled, but he's happy.

All because he's finally living his dream.

“Bakugou, watch out-”

But then, his eyes begin to wander.

Not to healer girl who's now splayed out on the asphalt, passed out.

Not to the blade-swinging maniac that frantically flaps her arms in the air as Uraraka uses her quirk on her.

And Mr Combat skills throws sloppy attacks, missing almost every punch and kick he tries to land on him and Todoroki.

And thank God for that because one more kick or punch, and Katsuki would be going home with broken bones.
