๐Ÿ‘ That means around 1.5million sheep currently going unsheared, including plenty in North Shropshire.

๐ŸŒ๏ธ International shearers are essential to help manage the UK sheep flock. To avoid an animal welfare crisis, we need a plan, rapidly.

โœ…๏ธ When I questioned the Home Office recently, officials said they expected DEFRA to have a plan for shearing in place by now.

๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ DEFRA was questioned yesterday - it seems like there is no plan.

๐Ÿ Shearing is crucial for keeping sheep healthy.

โŒ๏ธ To keep our sheep shorn, for years weโ€™ve relied on shearers from Australia and New Zealand to help out - but travel visas to for this long-standing arrangement were stopped last year.

We need action now to make the UK the safest place for a woman to have a baby - and give mums and families the care they deserve at what should be the happiest time in their life.

โŒ๏ธ We already knew - in too many cases hospital trusts don't listen to mumsโ€™ concerns and fail to learn from mistakes when they go wrong.

The Labour Government's had 18 months to do more than just commission another review.

โŒ๏ธ We already knew - some maternity wards are totally unfit for purpose, with collapsing ceilings and sewage backing up in the bathrooms.
โŒ๏ธ We already knew - there's not safe staffing in far too many places, leaving overstretched staff unable to provide the care they want to.

Todayโ€™s maternity care report by Baroness Amos paints a picture of poor care and devastating consequences. But there's nothing in the report that we didn't already know.

With this done, the plans in place, and the junction being one of the worst in the county for pedestrians and drivers, what more does the Government need in order to fund changes that will at last make it safe?

During ongoing maintenance at the dangerous Llynclys crossroads, National Highways will continue their survey works to develop plans for a roundabout.

News that the Government will keep the current minimum number of Post Office branches is of course a good thing, but we need to see better access to these vital services for people living, working and running businesses in rural areas.

For some residents and businesses in North Shropshire, a trip to the Post Office is at best inconvenient and at worst impossible.

The family business has been producing demountable buildings in Shropshire for over 40 years. I spoke with them about the firm's important role in modern education delivery across the country.

Modular classroom buildings are a common sight at schools, so it was good to see the impressive manufacturing facilities at RG Stones in Weston Rhyn.

NHS dentistry was allowed to fall apart under the Conservatives.

The Labour Government promised an extra 700,000 urgent appointments to solve this crisis, but how many of them have actually been delivered?

We must restore the trust of the British public. We have to show that lessons have been learned about political scandal, about cover up, about entitlement. We have to show weโ€™re taking actions to restore trust in what this House is up to and what the wider establishment is allowed to get away with.

By designating SEND as critical infrastructure, we can ensure that public money stays where it is needed - supporting our most vulnerable children rather than lining the pockets of sovereign wealth funds in Abu Dhabi or private firms in Europe.

Iโ€™ve met so many parents who are fighting for the support their children deserve. Meanwhile offshore investors are raking in millions in profit from our local council.

The Secretary of State needs to act to ensure GPs have the resources and guidance they need so that everyone can access an appointment within seven days or 24 hours if it's urgent, particularly in rural areas.

Meanwhile, our already busy GPs are trying to develop neighbourhood health teams. But they haven't received any dedicated government funding nor a robust plan.

In Shropshire more than 150,000 patients waited longer than a month to see a GP last year. It's shocking, but not surprising - we have 50 fewer qualified GPs than we did a decade ago.

That's why I'm calling for an emergency VAT cut now to protect the entire hospitality sector before it collapses. I heard from owners Tommy and Miles about their concerns and in Parliament Iโ€™ll continue to stand up for businesses across North Shropshire in Parliament.

Independent hotels like the award-winning Pen-y-Dyffryn near Oswestry are being hit with punishing Business Rates. The Governmentโ€™s recent U-turn relief package was a small crumb of comfort for pubs, but did nothing for other hospitality and hotel businesses.

More of a side-table than a cabinet when youโ€™re missing half the jobs.

Notably there is no-one responsible for the NHS. Is that because they had no-one capable, or because they wouldnโ€™t bother with the NHS?

Funding based on need? I couldn't agree more.

Yet services cost far more to deliver in rural areas where our populations are older and the need is greater. The Government's long-term funding formula must change to reflect that.

This is the reality of what we're up against in Shropshire.

Fair funding..... if you're a big town or city where Labour wants to shore up votes.

It's a move straight out of the Boris Johnson playbook.

Poor postal services, patchy mobile phone signal, bad broadband and terrible public transport links are having a grave impact on peopleโ€™s lives and wellbeing in North Shropshire.
