With this done, the plans in place, and the junction being one of the worst in the county for pedestrians and drivers, what more does the Government need in order to fund changes that will at last make it safe?

During ongoing maintenance at the dangerous Llynclys crossroads, National Highways will continue their survey works to develop plans for a roundabout.

News that the Government will keep the current minimum number of Post Office branches is of course a good thing, but we need to see better access to these vital services for people living, working and running businesses in rural areas.

For some residents and businesses in North Shropshire, a trip to the Post Office is at best inconvenient and at worst impossible.

The Secretary of State needs to act to ensure GPs have the resources and guidance they need so that everyone can access an appointment within seven days or 24 hours if it's urgent, particularly in rural areas.

Meanwhile, our already busy GPs are trying to develop neighbourhood health teams. But they haven't received any dedicated government funding nor a robust plan.

In Shropshire more than 150,000 patients waited longer than a month to see a GP last year. It's shocking, but not surprising - we have 50 fewer qualified GPs than we did a decade ago.

That's why I'm calling for an emergency VAT cut now to protect the entire hospitality sector before it collapses. I heard from owners Tommy and Miles about their concerns and in Parliament I’ll continue to stand up for businesses across North Shropshire in Parliament.

Independent hotels like the award-winning Pen-y-Dyffryn near Oswestry are being hit with punishing Business Rates. The Government’s recent U-turn relief package was a small crumb of comfort for pubs, but did nothing for other hospitality and hotel businesses.

Notably there is no-one responsible for the NHS. Is that because they had no-one capable, or because they wouldn’t bother with the NHS?

Funding based on need? I couldn't agree more.

Yet services cost far more to deliver in rural areas where our populations are older and the need is greater. The Government's long-term funding formula must change to reflect that.

This is the reality of what we're up against in Shropshire.

Fair funding..... if you're a big town or city where Labour wants to shore up votes.

It's a move straight out of the Boris Johnson playbook.
