I think it’s not helpful to repeat claims that the administration is working on eliminating “DEIA” as though it’s some kind of corporate strategy; just say explicitly that they’re trying to eliminate diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility, and explain how.

UNRWA Ban Goes Into Effect, Implementation Unclear as Agency Continues Relief Efforts
Palestine Square
A complete ban on @unrwa.org officially went into effect last week on Jan. 30. The implementation of the ban, however, remains unclear but will cause a crisis for many Palestinians who rely on the agency's services to survive. Asma Barakat reports ⬇️

Yes this is so important. And also please hold how many disabled people are disabled Black and Brown folks, disabled trans and queer folks. It’s those at the intersections of multiple oppressions: racism, ableism, anti-Blackness, cisheteropatriarchy that are in the most danger.

Conflicts of Interest in Early Autism Intervention Research
A very large portion of early autism intervention research is… conducted by the same people who design or provide the interventions.
Yes!! We talked with @kbottemabeutel.bsky.social about ABA research COIs at TPGA. Specifically she told us, “we shouldn’t have a separate set of lower standards that we only apply to autism research.”

The infographic “Anti-Palestinian Racism” outlines its definition, manifestations, impact, and global occurrence. It features three diverse figures and uses a red, beige, and brown palette. Here is the full text:
ANTI-PALESTINIAN RACISM
NAKBA DENIAL
Denying Palestinian history or rejecting the rights of Palestinian refugees.
DEHUMANIZATION
Erasing the human rights and equal dignity of Palestinians.
FAILING TO ACKNOWLEDGE
Palestinians as an Indigenous people with a collective Palestinian identity, belonging, and rights.
EXCLUDING
Excluding or pressuring others to exclude Palestinians or expressions of solidarity with Palestinians.
VIOLENCE OR JUSTIFICATION OF VIOLENCE
Violence or justification of violence against Palestinians.
DENYING, DISTORTING, OR SILENCING
Palestinian narratives.
What Is It?
A form of racism that silences, excludes, erases, stereotypes, dehumanizes, or defames Palestinians or Palestinian narratives. Anti-Palestinian racism is distinct from Islamophobia.
Who Is Affected?
Palestinians, those perceived to be Palestinian, and non-Palestinians who support Palestinian rights, of multiple religious, racial, and ethnic backgrounds. Since many people who experience anti-Palestinian racism (APR) are not Muslim, addressing APR under Islamophobia excludes a significant number of those impacted, noting that all forms of anti-racist efforts can co-exist.
Where Does It Occur?
Anti-Palestinian racism is rooted in the systemic oppression Palestinians experience as a colonized people under Israeli rule, but it occurs globally, especially in countries that support the Israeli government to advance their own imperial interests.
What Are Its Effects?
Anti-Palestinian racism can cause physical, mental, and emotional harm to both those who experience it and those who witness it. Ultimately, it functions to justify and uphold systems of oppression, whether their manifestations are implicit or overt.

When I learned just how weak the evidence supporting ABA truly is, I felt completely gaslighted. Now, many years later, I work in the same place, and sadly, not much has changed regarding intervention recommendations.

It astonishes me how many practitioners still firmly advocate for 20-40 hours of ABA without hesitation or critical reflection. I remember telling my son's doctor that ABA didn’t feel right to me, and she insisted that "good ABA" might seem tough at first and encouraged me to stick with it.

The image is a statement from Doctors Against Genocide (DAG), marked by their logo—a circular orange emblem with the organization’s name. The statement addresses the humanitarian crisis affecting children in conflict zones, published on November 20, 2024, for International Children’s Day. Below is the exact text from the image:
Doctors Against Genocide Statement on International Children’s Day:
WORLD LEADERS HAVE TURNED THE WORLD INTO A GRAVEYARD FOR CHILDREN
November 20, 2024
On this International Children’s Day, Doctors Against Genocide (DAG) calls on healthcare professionals, institutions, and global citizens to join our “Not Another Child, Not Another Hospital” campaign. The ongoing slaughter in Palestine, Lebanon, and Sudan demands immediate global action.
A Graveyard for Children: The Systematic Crime of Pedicide
Over 20,000 children have been killed in Gaza and Lebanon in the past year. UNICEF has declared Gaza a “graveyard for children” and the UN has described Israel’s deliberate bombings as a “war on children.” These atrocities go beyond tragic casualties—they constitute pedicide, the deliberate targeting and systematic destruction of children, their family units, and their futures as a tool of warfare.
The relentless genocide in Gaza has forged a harrowing reality: the largest cohort of pediatric amputees in history. Women are forced to deliver infants without anesthesia, bringing them into a world UNICEF chillingly describes as “being born into hell.” Over 135,000 children under two teeter on the brink of severe malnutrition, while countless others languish in makeshift shelters, deprived of safe water and sufficient food. With winter fast approaching, these dire conditions will become even more catastrophic.
The image is a continuation of a statement from Doctors Against Genocide (DAG). Below is the exact text:
• • •
Sudan is today the world's largest child displacement crisis. Over 14 million children are in need of humanitarian assistance, with 4.6 million displaced from their homes and nearly 1 million seeking refuge across borders. Acute malnutrition, preventable diseases, and a crumbling healthcare system are putting millions of children's lives at risk.
Education is under attack, with 17 million children out of school.
Pedicide is not collateral damage-it is a deliberate act aimed at destroying an entire generation. It is a moral catastrophe, demanding accountability and immediate global action. Silence in the face of pedicide is complicity
Medicide, the systematic destruction of healthcare infrastructure, and the targeting of medical professionals to annihilate a population's ability to sustain life and health. Over 2200 Healthcare workers have been killed, maimed, or injured while performing their protected duties-treating patients, delivering humanitarian aid, and bearing witness to atrocities. The global medical community remains largely silent in the face of these crimes. It is time to call this by its name: medicide. Silence is complicity.
A Call to Action
On this International Children's Day, we urge healthcare professionals and institutions worldwide to:
• Demand an Immediate Ceasefire and an End to Genocide.
• Protect children, hospitals, and healthcare workers.
• Allow unhindered humanitarian aid and rebuild healthcare systems in Gaza, Lebanon, and Sudan.
• Join the "Not Another Child, Not Another Hospital" campaign.
The image is a continuation of a statement from Doctors Against Genocide (DAG). Below is the exact text:
As Dr. Mahmoud Abu Nujaila, a physician in Gaza, wrote before he was killed in an Israeli airstrike:
“Whoever stays until the end, will tell the story. We did what we could. Remember us.”
We owe it to these healthcare workers, the children, and the future generations to carry their stories, to demand justice, and to act decisively to prevent further atrocities.
Join Us
Join us in our commitment to building a just world where healthcare is protected, children are safe, and every life is valued. We can make “Not Another Child, Not Another Hospital” a global rallying cry for change. Join the campaign here.

The image features an inspirational quote by Lilla Watson surrounded by artistic line drawings of two women and white birds. The quote is displayed in the center of the image inside a pale circular background, which contrasts with the surrounding muted yellow color. It reads:
“If you have come here to help me, you’re wasting your time. If you have come because your liberation is bound up with mine, then let us work together.”
On the left, a line drawing of a woman wearing a hijab and a headpiece made of intricate flowers is depicted, with delicate facial features and flowing lines. On the right, another line drawing portrays a woman with long hair adorned with leaves and flowers, her face calm and reflective. White birds in flight are scattered across the image, adding a sense of freedom and movement. The overall tone is soft and empowering, emphasizing unity and collaboration.

However, I think the IEP’s language and format itself is ableist and deficit-based. I think there should be a section for school-level interventions in IEP, mentioning goals for school. How this school is trying to be more inclusive and how these goals are going to be measured?
