Good example of the way anti-trans hate and antisemitism continue to be intertwined in American discourse. Once more subtly, now far more overtly.

You know, I've had some online beefs and grudges over the years, and sometimes I wonder about past stuff and if I was really right in my beef.

And then sometimes I encounter someone I haven't thought of in a decade and have it instantly confirmed she's actually worse than I remembered lol.

Fake videos/screenshots when major stuff happens have long been a problem. People post a video of an airstrike in one country 20 years ago and say it's something happening in a different country today.

Now we also have AI generated videos to add on to that.

Not great.

Especially since, again using ANN as an example, Kadokawa wasn't literally putting out seemingly contradictory statements about ANN's editorial independence at the time as ANN was saying they'd still be fully independent.

Media Do has done that in regard to Seven Seas and AI translation. So uh...

But counter example to my counter example, the fact that Kadokawa has *itself* faced the potential prospect of being acquired by Sony (thank God that didn't happen, at least yet) still put some of that in question for the future.

So yeah, I'm worried about Seven Seas too.

Like the one counter example I could think of is that Anime News Network has, so far, avoided being destroyed/corrupted/reduced to a hollow shell/etc by being acquired by Kadokawa. But from what I understand Chris was very very careful about the terms of the agreement when that acquisition happened-

I'm at a loss of words other than that I'm extremely grateful of the work he did in this world. The amount of joy Kyoani brought into my life under his leadership is beyond measure.

The only series to get unfairly accused of homophobia because the animation was so bad they couldn't animate a same sex kiss properly so censored it with light beams instead.

A heads up that the Polygon article (and others in Japanese) about the horrible case coming out of Shogakukan is full of bad information, like conflating a civil and criminal case.

I'm sure this will cause zero issues when talking about the situation moving forward.

It doesn't hurt that I'm a giant lesbian trans woman, and you draw a lot of women who love women many of which are also trans. But when you draw straight couples or stuff that doesn't 100% cater to my exact preference, the love and intimacy in the art makes it really cute and warm and I love it too.

I'm not an artist so I have trouble sometimes describing specific aspects from an artist perspective, but your characters always come off as very loving and intimate with each other. It's art that makes me happy to look at even if I'm not horny (it's also really hot too for when I am)

But for a more general answer for your extra spicy account you do some really interesting and unique creature designs that I appreciate, and for a more general answer for all your art, I'm basically gonna steal onigiriarts' response.

Good to see that some mangaka are pulling their work and/or putting it on hiatus in protest over this, and that was before it got revealed that the Act-Age writer was also working with Manga Plus under a pen name to hide his identity.

It's now officially confirmed, after 3 days of speculations going viral on X, that this manga artist got ruled for doing horrendous things to his then underaged student. What's worse, it looks like the major publisher Shogakukan kept the secret for 6 years, even hired him under a different pen name as author for a new show. This mangaka Shoichi Yamamoto SA'ed a high schooler he taught part time, made her eat feces and smeared them on her face too. She was 15 when it started. He got arrested in 2020 and his comic "Daten Sakusen" stopped with little explanation. In the following year, his editor allegedly advised for the settlement, offering the victim 1.5M yen (roughly $9600) to stay quiet, which of course they failed. In 2022, the artist was brought back as Hajime Ichiro to write a story for their new series. As in "their", it's the same editor. The publisher made a statement only on their app "Manga One" so far, the exclusive platform for his works. But many already deleted the app, including myself.

I don’t know why I’m first hearing about this from a famous JAV actress turned videogame content creator, but this is the first I’m hearing of this really horrific story and SIX YEAR COVERUP by Shogakukan (CW: sexual abuse). And it’s not like the perpetrator is even famous. Are there others who are?

One of my favorite games of last year and utterly ridiculous that it is free.

It is orders of magnitude larger and more fully-featured than 99% of commercial rhythm games. It's also a visual novel, a cypher-cracking ARG, a Yume Nikki like oneiric explorathon and even has ONLINE MULTIPLAYER.

So absolutely added to my library, praying it's not too harsh on the difficulty and/or has an easy mode or something.
