This is a beautiful piece of writing from 2016, by Bayo Akomolafe, and it definitely still resonates today / probably will for the next few centuries.

Understanding this reality is vital.

I don't know if I believe a new and better paradigm will exist while I'm alive, but I have hope the reality of this one will become actually clear. The call is not coming from inside the house; the call is and always has been the house.

A while back, @gmtminus7.bsky.social sent us a huge box of medical supplies. We continue to use that stuff and so appreciate it every day! Today's contribution was some needed medical tape to put a bandage on Potato's hip (before the vet wrap)

Shawn got third in the Two Rivers 100! So so proud. They thank everyone who saw them trip and Isabelle (TR200 bib #13) for not panicking when they both got lost and ended up on a road.

In some good news, I'm so proud- ATAO won the "Golden Rake" award for handling for the Two Rivers 100. This is totally up to Sarah, Apprentice Fiona, and Shawn's family being super on top of everything. Congrats crew!!!

But these fascists, like many fascists and other authoritarians, confuse the pageantry of violence for power - they imagine that the state with armed men walking the streets is strong. But only a weak government needs to put armed men in the streets to exert power.

A strong government has no need.

My head says, of course this happened: it is what happens next in the logical steps, in this system, in the enemy's attempts. My heart, though, aches. It aches for the one city I have ever loved, for my friends and family there, for us. It aches in fear and pride.
