Fat-fingered my phone and it opened a contact who I used to go to school with and hadn't heard from in, I dunno, 20 years or so (I should clear out my contacts). Decided to see what he was up to. Just one public-facing Facebook page with a grainy photo of him & a note saying he died in 2021. Ho hum.

Any chance of more than one showing of the documentary films?

Well, now watching Ann Lee will be a less immersive experience.

Uh oh. 24 seasons of How It's Made on HBO Max. As if I don't have enough TV to juggle.

That, as they say, is a wrap. I saw 127 films, with a total running time of 229 hours and 2 minutes, on the big screen in 2025. Of those, 92, with a total running time of 166 hours and 39 minutes, were at @hollywoodtheatre.org.

No increase in my monthly contribution until you reach a contract agreement with @opbkmhdcreators.bsky.social

Hey, @opb.orgβ€”I see you're having a membership / fundraising drive at the moment. This sustaining member won't be increasing his support until he sees an agreement regarding contracts between you and @opbkmhdcreators.bsky.social.

Yeah! Rounding the year out Kill Bill (thanks for dealing with those canceled screenings), Marty Supreme, and then this. Back on the 5th for No Other Choice.

Cool, you got Christmas, Again. I've watched that every year for a good few years.

@hollywoodtheatre.org Before Lady Snowblood, Chloe told people not to talk + also not to whisper as people can still hear you. THANK YOU! I'm so tired of people talking + whispering during films. Maybe you could add her "enjoy yourself but shut up!" comment to the end of the "no phones" intro thing.

Apparently, not Kill Bill as you cancelled the performance I had a ticket for.

Sigh. Portland Public Schools send out a notice to parents that URLs for ParentVue and StudentVue are changing. The instructions are given in a completely inaccessible image-only PDF. Pretty sure that's an ADA Title II issue.

Well, that looks underwhelming. Based solely on that trailer, I'll pass.

Went to my first panto in a long, long time. Gotta say that the Portland Panto Players did an amazing job. Definitely going back next year.

(oh yes I am…)

I never really got into them. Patterson Hood lives in Portlandβ€”he moved here in 2015.

With independent record shops continuing to struggle, Iron Maiden making the 40th anniversary vinyl edition of Live After Death a Walmart exclusive in the US is a cruel decision by two businesses that don't need the money.

I guess the easiest option is to stop using the YNAB mobile app, stick with the web site, and hope that they have separate design teams that don't talk to each other.

What's like @ynabofficial.bsky.social but without the newly-added awful UI that's getting worse every release? I've tried Monarch and Copilot Money, but they want me to add emojis to everything I create. Literally can't add a savings goal without adding an emoji to the goal title. So those are out.

Adding to the feedback that $20 is too expensive for rentals. I don't pay anyone else that amount of money to rent movies, and I'm not starting now.

$20 per rental? Those unseen gems are going to remain to be unseen by me. I'm definitely out at that price.

@hollywoodtheatre.org Hello. Sometimes at the end of the night, on the tables near the entrance, there are free bags of popcorn and a post-it note saying Free Corn.

Have you considered replacing the post-it with a large cardboard cutout of Missy Elliott with a speech bubble saying Get Ur Free Corn?

@hollywoodtheatre.org I was bored, so I got all the film run times and added them up for the 52 weeks.

I spent 156 hours and 20m watching films in the Hollywood. That works out at 6 days, 12 hours, and 20 minutes.

Big one here, gang.

This list is the culmination of many thingsβ€”8 years of reporting on local film, diving into Oregon film history during the pandemic, getting obsessed with Kelly Reichardt (though anyone can and should do that.)

Thanks for the space, WW.

I figured it was something like that. Smells a lot like the music industry where small indie shops can't / don't sell enough for the big labels to care so they have source their product from elsewhere at higher prices which then reduces their profit margins.
