I was moving and dealing with a lot at the time so the tone of the video ended up being dark. Besides the music video I made a few years ago that's pretty much it. [PT 52]

We didn't have that in mind when we filmed so we ended up using almost entirely stock footage. It was primarily snake handlers and archival war footage. [PT 51] youtu.be/t-WRfDUv__k?...

One project I forgot was a music video I made for the St Louis band Bastard Squad. In 2022 I went to St Louis with Jason to work on a project that ended up being cancelled. Bob from the band hosted us and in the tail end asked about a music video. [PT 50]

I also wanted to really challenge myself on shots and lighting for this short so you'll notice it has a bit more stylized look. [PT 49]

Given our condition we had to keep the story contained within our home. We made use of some recent hobbies such as my wife's puppet which she had recently made. Add in a little bit more puppetry and a bit more stop motion and we had an idea we could run with. [PT 48]

We originally were going to have my friend Jason film it but a day or so before the debacle began we ended up getting sick as hell. Not wanting to admit defeat we borrowed Jay's camera and filmed ourselves. [PT 47]

At this point we've come full circle to 'Red Velvet'. It was another entry into the 72 hour debacle and a direct sequel to 'Baby Lacie'. [PT 46] youtu.be/BdYN9-WHFcI?...

Excited about it I even made myself a sweater to commemorate the project. I don't really have plans beyond the mock trailer but given the opportunity I think I could come up with a few ideas. [PT 45]

It was called 'They Came From the Pumpkin Patch' a mock trailer in the style of a 50s era sci-fi horror. I used a mixture of green screen, old style practical effects and public domain footage to get what I was looking for. [PT 44] youtu.be/YZaBTd0M6XY?...

Later that year I decided to challenge myself and make a trailer start to finish in a week. It being near Halloween I decided to keep with the theme with pumpkins coming from beyond. [PT 43]

It worked pretty well and I feel like I'm terms of writing and pacing this was my favorite project. It's fun, strange and had pretty solid production value for having only been made in three days. [PT 42]

The doll we used isn't the original but we made a few alterations to give it a Cagey sort of vibe. With Jason doing cinematography we were set to start the next day. Using a mixture of stop motion and puppetry we wanted to give horror comedy a try. [PT 41]

They say write what you know and over the course of three hours I wrote about a loved one's cherished childhood doll that honestly freaks me the hell out. Thus the short 'Baby Lacie' was born. [PT 40] youtu.be/bMyHYvvF-gY?...

Anyways on the fourth debacle we got a Nicholas Cage themed prompt involving Con Air. My first script was this detective noir mixed with Wes Anderson kind of vibe. However due to rain I ended up having to write a second script on the fly. [PT 39]

The next year we took part in our fourth debacle. The third we attempted cringe horror that got a bit too cringey. Fun production but super embarrassing acting, particularly on my part. [PT 38]

Perhaps someday I'll do a re-edit and see if I can hit the tone I intended before lockdown jaded me on the topic. [PT 37]

Even though it didn't get selected for a single fest I still stand by it. My mistake was putting too much of my frustration into it, I intended cheeky and fun but I ended up making a very dark dramady heavy on the drama. [PT 36]

That ended up being kind of misguided ultimately. My first mistake was releasing it so close to the pandemic when no one wanted to think about it. The second was I made the main character I but too lifelike. [PT 35]

It was a pretty successful shoot and every one did great. The experience taught me a lot about running a production from scheduling to prop making. I even hired someone to score the whole thing. Accomplished I sent it out to a bunch of film festivals. [PT 34]

During production we endured two covid scares despite taking precautions but thankfully no one ended up being positive. We filmed over two days and utilized a convenience store, Airbnb and an old style diner. [PT 33]

That same year I was also putting finishing touches on my first proper short, 'Plight of the Plague Rat'. It was intended as a mockumentary comedy, a summation of the frustrating absurdity of the pandemic. [PT 32] youtu.be/UKUnpY9Fbkw?...

It was such a step up in my video and audio quality, I thought it was the perfect way to send off a band that I had gotten to know over the past 5-6 years. [PT 31]

Later that year we did what is currently our most recent show video of UglyBones' last show at the Cobra Lounge in Chicago. I was asked to record this show and with a few years to work on my form was able to make possibly my highest production quality show video. [PT 30] youtu.be/udxvCIc7FQ8?...

We'll need to find another opportunity to work with Claymation as some of these characters have lived rent free in my head ever since we made this. The acting on my part wasn't great but our characters definitely made up for that. [PT 29]
