Technology designer and researcher. Professor. Boardgamer. Chocolate consumer. I like tennis courts, kitchens, and pianos. I think the truth is out there. And I say that Han shot first.
Genius.
21.08.2025 02:00 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Congratulations! We made it off the waitlist last year and itβs been great. But do be ready for a lot of beans (with the occasional spices, hot sauce, popcorn, and other surprises).
07.06.2025 02:55 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Iβve just started using Anybox on iOS and Mac. So far, itβs working pretty well. But I enjoyed Pocket, and Iβm going to miss the fact that I could read my Pocket articles on my Kobo eReader.
23.05.2025 00:01 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Itβs like teaching machines all over again. I donβt think centering our educational system around Duolingo and videos, and casting teachers/schools as necessary for childcare is a good way to think about educational technology. https://fortune.com/2025/05/20/duolingo-ai-teacher-schools-childcare/
20.05.2025 18:42 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Excited to announce the publication of our Special Issue entitled "Applying Critically Complex Theories to Professional Learning With and About Advanced Technologies" in the journal of Professional Development in Education journal! We hope you will read and enjoy.

In the midst of the rhetoric (and lies) about university finances really work, this is worth a read.
25.02.2025 15:28 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Front cover for the book βThe Victorian Internetβ by Tom Standage. The bookβs subtitle is βThe Remarkable Story of the Telegraph and the Nineteenth Centuryβs Online Pioneersβ
Enjoyed re-reading "The Victorian Internet" about the introduction of the telegraph, which enabled greater communication, shrunk the distances between us, and led to many experiences we see today online. Fairly quick and interesting read. #TechHistory #Internet #Technology
24.02.2025 17:35 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Worried about losing access to US federal data that may go off-line, or already is? Youβre not aloneβbut duplication isnβt the answer.
Many ongoing efforts have already archived key datasets and many more are ongoing. Check out these existing resources and, if you can, support their work. π§΅
The front cover of a show program for the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis in front of the stage as patrons file in pre-show.
Time for our annual meet-up with the gang from Jazz at Lincoln Center! A terrific show, as always, this past weekend.
06.02.2025 17:19 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Sticking around here mostly, but probably some shorter travel throughout. Catching up on a big stack of reading (design and design ed, AI). Maybe learning some Swift just to do some coding. And some more cooking and learning the board games on our βto playβ shelf.

07.12.2024 04:11 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0In the past, we tried to organize by main mechanism or by designer (e.g., the Feld and Rosenberg sections), but it got tricky. For this current re-org, we just decided to shelve everything in alphabetical order by title. That saved some cognitive energy we can apply to gaming.

01.12.2024 03:17 β π 5 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Itβs like when my course comments include βlectures too much, want more activityβ & βtoo many activities, want more lectureβ, all in the same course! Interesting article, especially for my classes when many undergrads equate a class solely with lectures, & any deviation from that causes anxiety.

Hockey night in Detroitβ¦Red Wings took it on the chin, but the Zamboni gravy boats might be one of the greatest game giveaways ever.
24.11.2024 03:16 β π 5 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Enjoyed re-reading The Victorian Internet. It looks at the telegraph, and how that launched a communications network with many of the promises & drawbacks we see with the Internet, plus parallels like instant news, spam, romance, encryption (sort of), & information overload.
