You should wait for sales and play retro and indie games. But any individual “vote with your wallet” solution is not a serious answer to the tech arms race, discoverability nightmare, culture war, general flagging economy, etc. Against all odds, you can’t really blame the gamers for this one tbh.

There’s a lot of overlapping reasons for this (SEO is an underrated one imo, literal exhaustion another), but I do know that raising prices on an already unsustainable AAA development cycle is just gonna kick the can down the curb while encouraging players to play even less.

I guarantee a lot of casual players would have more fun poking at an Anbernic with 100 or so mid to good ROMs on it than grinding the same forever game five years past when they stopped caring about it, I say as I log onto FFXIV to level jobs I never plan to play in an expansion I don’t like
