Henrietta Lacks' descendants reach a settlement over the use of her 'stolen' cells Her genetic material, taken without her knowledge in 1951, has helped facilitate numerous scientific breakthroughs, including the development of the polio and COVID-19 vaccines.

ONE bit of good news in the world today. Finally justice for her family.

Ruby Nell Bridges Hall is an American civil rights activist and was the first Black American child to desegregate the all-white William Frantz Elementary School in Louisiana in 1960. When people say they want to, "see those 'good old days' return," for her they were anything but.

That must have been a hard time... Such a big tragedy...

From 1932 - 1972, the US Public Health Service and the CDC illegally tested the effects of the disease Syphilis on a group of nearly 400 African American men without their knowledge or consent in The Tuskegee Experiment. No assistance for the harm caused was offered until 1975.

Seneca Village was a neighborhood of Black Americans and immigrants located in what is now known as Central Park. When politicians and the rich wanted a new park in NY, they decided to force the, "vagrants and vagabonds," off of the land and bulldozed their homes and churches.

François Scarborough Clemmons is best known for his appearances on Mister Rogers' Neighborhood. Mr. Rogers asked him to come on the show as officer Clemmons and even shared the pool with him! He took the role, the first recurring role for a Black American on children's TV!
