Il ritorno della credenza di Ercolano: un viaggio nel tempo tra legno e memoria

The idea of the closet as a dedicated space for clothes etc is relatively modern architecture. Most in antiquity had cupboards & what we would call an armoire. At Herculaneum, the have now fully restored wooden cabinet carbonized in the eruption ๐ŸŒ‹ of 79 CE. ercolano.cultura.gov.it/il-ritorno-d...

A 1,700-Year-Old Roman Merchant Ship Lies Just Two Meters Below the Surface off Mallorcaโ€™s Playa de Palma - Arkeonews Conservation team examining amphorae recovered from the Ses Fontanelles Roman shipwreck near Playa de Palma, Mallorca

Archaeologists have uncovered a Roman merchant vessel shipwreck from around ca. 320 CE near Mallorca. It was carrying olive oil, wine, and garum, โ€œtwo leather shoes, a carpenterโ€™s drill likely used for onboard repairs, and an oil lamp โ€ฆ Some amphorae, however, bear early Christian monograms.โ€

Based Trad guys donโ€™t know history obviously but even the idea of national languages is relatively recent - in France at the revolution only half the population spoke French. The HRE had many languages. In Ancient Rome at the bare minimum an aristocrat had to be bilingual

Chatbots โ€” LLMs โ€” do not know facts and are not designed to be able to accurately answer factual questions. They are designed to find and mimic patterns of words, probabilistically. When theyโ€™re โ€œrightโ€ itโ€™s because correct things are often written down, so those patterns are frequent. Thatโ€™s all.

News Outlets Won't Describe Trump's AI Video For What It Is: The President Pooping on America Major outlets said the President dumped "brown liquid" that "appeared to be feces" in an AI-generated video. They refused to call a spade a spade, or poop, poop.

I intellectually understand why corporate media is scared of Trump and why they regularly pull punches, though I find it deeply cowardly. But I do not understand why they refuse to describe in plain, factual terms the things he says and does

Nobody can know everything, let alone everything by their own research. We always rely on experts to navigate our complex world. The question is whether we pick credentialed and experienced people or internet demagogues and grifters.

Five Palestinians killed by Israeli forces in Gaza despite ceasefire Israeli army confirmed it opened fire, saying a group had approached its soldiers before being targeted.

Israeli ceasefire means it will massacre the emaciated maimed shell of a body they left you in for entering your own home, then claim Israeli terrorists were feeling unsafe near your house while they were destroying what was left of your life and family.

The Palestinian village of Silwan in occupied East Jerusalem lies right below the southern corner of Haram al-Shareef, the complex upon which the al-Aqsa mosque rises. On Monday the 15th of September 2025, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio walked below the roads of this village, all the way to the Western Wall plaza inside the Walls of the Old City. This was the grand opening ceremony of a tourist attraction that was not only built in contravention of International Law, and the principles of archaeological methodology, but is also foreboding of grave danger to the status quo that protects the sovereignty of the compound.

The area of Silwan has been inhabited con-tinuously since the Bronze Age, and has been the object of archaeological attention from as early as 1838, when British biblical scholar Edward Robinson, in his travels through Ottoman Palestine, iden-tified the pool of water located at the bottom of the hill as the Siloam pool, mentioned in the christian Gospels.

A long series of excavation campaigns followed Robinsonโ€™s early exploration. The most recent of them, conducted by Dame Kathleen Kenyon, and dubbed by her biographer โ€œthe last great imperial excavationโ€, was interrupted only by the 1967 Six Day War.
