Yes, we should keep men out of women's sports Hi, friends.

"We should keep men out of women’s sports who weaponize Title IX to invoke trans witch hunts instead of utilizing the law to encourage schools provide equal resources and opportunities for girls and women in sports." This is IT, @lindsaygibbs.bsky.social www.powerplays.news/p/yes-we-sho...

Here’s a strategy: 1) establish the frames, what problems will these changes cause, how will they impact communities; 2) inspire people to use those frames to tell their own stories of their families or communities are impacted; 3) amplify those stories.

Breaking: The Handbasket is first to report catastrophic OMB funding memo Posted on Bluesky earlier this evening, other major outlets have since confirmed.

“There’s still this idea that news is only ‘real’ once it’s confirmed by big corporate outlets. After all, could one woman with absolutely zero institutional backing in leggings and a sweatshirt in her NYC apartment really be the one to break such an important story? Now we know the answer is yes.”

House votes to ban trans girls from women’s sports in schools If passed into law, the legislation would change Title IX and revoke federal funding for schools that allow trans girls in women’s sports.

"This legislation would change the actual statute of Title IX to explicitly exclude transgender people from a federal civil rights law."

If passed, it would revoke fed $ for schools (public K-12 + colleges/universities) that allow trans girls in women's sports

I didn’t quite finish a draft of my WIP by the end of the year. Combo of family, holidays, travel got the best of me. Thankful for @jamiattenberg.bsky.social and #mini1000 for jumpstarting my writing again and knowing others are too. Feeling excited and energized to finish this thing.

Does Your Running Form Really Matter? Many runners believe their natural stride could be improved. Here’s what to know before trying to change yours.

There are plenty of videos promise that the secret to faster running lies in your technique. As Matt Fitzgerald told me, “It reinforces the idea that running form is important and that most people are doing it wrong.”

Still, should you change your form?

I determined to finish a draft of my WIP by the end of the year and have written 3600+ words this week. it's been a long time since I felt this excited (and joyful?) about writing and it feels good to immerse myself in a creative project that's just for me. Just need to figure out that ending! 😅

I'm sure that there are many business reasons for this move but as a fan of the sport, this move by HOKA is incredibly disappointing and feels short-sighted. It misses (ignores?) a huge brand storytelling opportunity esp as more women continue to run and run as they age.

This is why puberty blocker and adolescent healthcare bans are more serious than people realize. If you require trans people transition BEFORE puberty and then ban gender affirming care UNTIL AFTER puberty, you've just effectively banned trans people from a sport entirely.

What I wouldn’t give for a straightforward plan Wait, I thought you were supposed to have figured out who you are by your 40s?

How do you hold on to something you love, that’s meaningful, without holding on too tightly that it escapes your grasp? That's what I've been trying to figure out lately (always?) and I wrote about some of those shifts in work/identity.

OK, I'm starting to feel like I'm getting into a grove again. Just need all the other obligations in my life to go away for a bit so I can finish this!

OK I've said all year that I'm going to finish this draft of my WIP. Actually I said that last year too. But with a month left in this year, no more futzing around. I'm going to get to THE END.
So far today 12/2, I've written 500 words 😅

Our team played their hearts out today, the way they have done all season.
I want to recognize and thank our seniors - Alessia, Chandler, Brooke, Brooke and Blaire - for their tremendous efforts on the court all season long. They have all helped us to get where we are.
I have immense pride in the fact that we competed as a team all season long. These players put their love for the game above all else to play as a team each and every match.
This has been one of the most difficult seasons I've ever experienced and I know this is true as well for many of our players and the staff who have been supporting us all along.
Maintaining our focus on the court and ensuring the overall safety and well-being of my players amid the external noise have been my priorities. I would especially like to thank Chief Michael Carroll - who has been here with us for this tournament.
I will not sugarcoat our reality for the last two months. Our team prepared and was ready to play each match according to established Mountain West and NCAA rules of play. We did not take away anyone's participation opportunities.
Sadly, others who for years have played this same team without incident chose not to play us this season. To be clear, we did not celebrate a single win by forfeiture. Instead, we braced for the fallout. Each forfeiture announcement unleashed appalling, hateful messages individuals chose to send directly to our student-athletes, our coaching staff, and many associated with our program.
I am thankful for those of you who took the time to share your support and messages that recognize our players and their fortitude. Like you, I am enormously proud of this team and I am enormously proud to be the coach of these resilient women

Want to reiterate the last point: There was no significant relationship between BMI & low energy availability, meaning any BODY can be at risk, not just one specific body type.

There was also no relationship between BMI and performance. There's no specific body type that makes you a better runner

I’d love to expand a bit here-
Part of loving someone is holding them accountable for their actions in a respectful and productive way -which is different from shaming them.
I believe harassing Shelby isn’t productive. That doesn’t mean I, and many others in this sport, won’t expect accountability.
