My hope is he will over egg the pudding with his attempt to get loads of reform councillors in place ready for the next election. The smell of incompetence is definitely rotten eggs.

Understanding Research Methodology and Methods When designing a research project, it is really useful to clarify important aspects of your methodology before going on to describe the actual methods that you will (or might) use – even if you only do this for yourself. Methodology is the understanding (ology) of how the research will be approached, the logic (informed by philosophical debates and considerations) that informs and shapes the actual methods used, how and when, as well as other decisions around sampling, ethics, and so on.

It’s so obvious to me that he doesn’t give a damn what he says only what he gets. He pitches high knowing he will get knocked back and that in the end he will get what he wanted in the first place. Meanwhile world leaders and journalists can’t seem to see it is all a simple blag and barter.

UPCOMING TRAINING WORKSHOPS All my training workshops are just 2 ½ hours long and very reasonably priced. They are online, informal, and encourage interaction among participants. Workshops usually draw from my book Qualitative Research Methods for Everyone, Policy Press, 2025. These workshops (like my book) are designed for students and academics, and for practitioners working in diverse applied settings, such as nursing and charity work.

A woman recording an ICE agent tells him "Shame on you."

The agent responds, "Have you all not learned from the past couple of days?"

"Learned what?" she asks

Then he knocks her phone out of her hand

If a new app was produced which had, as its core features, the generation of sexual deep fake images of children and calls for a violent global far-right revolution, then not only would it be swiftly banned, but you wouldn't have a single mainstream politician willing to associate themselves with it

It is time to leave the cesspit formerly known as Twitter Grok is just one of many reasons why Westminster should finally get off the website.

Yesterday I posted my last ever Tweet and called on the Government to do the same.

Read more below on why I think it’s time to leave the cesspit formerly known as Twitter.

Role or whole person?  When I was teaching last week, I was reminded of the distinction I make in my book between interviewing a person as a representative of a role or as a whole person. Quite a few people have found this a useful distinction to make. When you are interviewing someone in their role - for example as a teacher or a police officer - they will respond to you and to the research in a different way than if you have asked to interview them about their personal life.

For 56 minutes Sky News and BBC News interrupted everything else and carried a Reform UK feed live, uninterrupted, unchallenged. The stream spluttered, froze, pixelated - dozens of times - still they stuck with it. FOR ONE HOUR.

This is an editorial choice. No other party gets this coverage. ~AA

Why a Toolkit for Qualitative Research? In my new book, Qualitative Research Methods for Everyone: An Essential Toolkit, I use a toolkit approach. But what do I mean by this? The toolkit for qualitative research is a collection of expert skills, knowledge, procedures, tools, or information. The book shares this collection of ‘tools’ across nine chapters, because I believe that once you are familiar with a wide range of tools, you can draw on them as and when required in order to make informed and relevant choices that reflect your own philosophical perspective, that respect your research participants, and that you can explain and justify when asked.
