Claude AI logo - very butthole-ish.

Claude AI logo - very butthole-ish.

Screen-grab of Claude AI Q&A

Me: Claude, could you please tell me why your logo looks like a butthole?

Claude: Ha! I can see why the circular design with radial lines might remind you of... that.
I don't have insight into Anthropic's design process, but I'd guess they were going for something like a stylized aperture, iris, or abstract representation of perspective/vision. The geometric radial pattern is pretty common in tech branding.

But yeah, once you see it, it's hard to unsee. Not the first logo to have that problem - there's a whole internet subgenre of "unfortunate logo designs."

Claude just threw up his AI hands instead of trying to defend the logo his corporate parents gave him.

As I dropped off the 17yo at school this morning, about a dozen+ teachers were outside the entrance, each holding a sign welcoming the kids in a different language. A really lovely gesture to end a week when ICE has been skulking around the neighborhood.

We're in a health care emergency: 15 MILLION people are going to lose their health care. Millions are about to see their premiums skyrocket.

Republicans are in power. They need to roll back their massive health care cuts and fund the government.

Up in my neck of the woods, Nexstar or Sinclair run the following:

WPIX 11 in NYC
WPHL 17 in Philly
Fox 56 in Wilkes Barre

Luckily, Sinclair has a helpful database of all their stations, so you can see if they're operating in your area and respond accordingly.

POLITICS A Senator Just Unapologetically Declared the U.S. a White Homeland America, he says, isn't an idea-and isn't for everyone. BY JOSHUA SHANES SEPT 05,2025 β€’ 4:00 PM IRONAL U.S. Sen. Eric Schmitt, of Missouri, speaking in Washington on Tuesday.

The white Europeans who settled America and conquered the West "believed they were forging a nationβ€”a homeland for themselves and their descendants," he said. "They fought, they bled, they struggled, they died for us. They built this country for us. America, in all its glory, is their gift to us, handed down across the generations. It belongs to us. It's our birthright, our heritage, our destiny. If America is everything and everyone, then it is nothing and no one at all. But we know that's not true. America is not a
'universal nation.'"
The implications of this vision are serious. This is a repudiation of our Constitution and the core of a national identity that includes all its citizens. It means that to be American is not about citizenship at all.
"What is an American?" Schmitt asked. It is a white person. America is a white homeland that organically binds together white people of the past, present and future. And its policies must be guided for their benefit if they are to succeed.

Everyone is clear about what this "Dept of War" rebranding is, right? It’s prepping the MAGA base for war.

Stephen Miller & DJT are clearly planning on starting a World War before the next election. They will use it as an excuse to push for a 3rd term. The writing is on the wall.

We live in a culture that not only encourages outrage, it requires it for the necessary divisiveness that fuels the hierarchal order for those that benefit from it. That's why we all have many, many opinionated, emotional grievances and many, many guns in this country - more than we have people. This is a dangerous "tinderbox" combination and usually the innocent end up hurt or killed.
I think that we can all agree that a weapon that can fire a 5.56/.223 round from an extended magazine must be kept away from the mentally disturbed/ill. It's like shooting fish in a barrel - or kids praying in a church in this latest incident.

"Guns don't kill people, people kill people." This is true in a sense from an NRA talking point. However, we live in an American society in which we have ridiculously easy access to both legal and illegal firearms and the culture is one that the gun is the first solution to a conflict as opposed to being the absolute last. This has permeated our thinking on how we deal with conflict and our emotions. While the Constitution says we have the right "to keep and bear arms" the first phrase speaks of "a well regulated militia" in the second amendment. It is clear that we are not regulating these firearms well.

"Only a good person with a gun can stop a bad person with a gun." Also true in the sense from an NRA talking point. That usually also assumes that the bad person has already started shooting. It seems much more logical to me to not give them the capability to start shooting. That can be limiting their access to guns, mental health counseling, mental screenings, etc. We will need a lot less "good guys" with guns if we keep the legal and illegal guns out of the hands of the bad guys.
No matter how many "good guys" we have, they will always be responding to a shooting. Better to prevent it for the sake of the innocent.

And, as a refresher, this is what the second amendment says:
"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."
The first phrase is "A well regulated Militia." We are anything but, obviously.
We are not well regulated in a variety of ways.

Stumbled upon this IG post and want to share it here. Eloquently stated with zero rage-bait.

It is absolutely infuriating living in this country full of gun nuts and racists but we have to do our level best to argue against ignorance without venom.

Edward Lee's retirement is bittersweet, but it's something that few authors ever actually get to do, and I like that he can now spend his good days rereading Lovecraft, M.R. James, Dunsany, and his other favorites. And that is something all of us can be enviable of. 1/2
