Has anyone opened up a DK Bananza cart? Does the chip maybe say how much storage is on it or have some kind of identifying code?

I have a hunch different size Switch 2 game carts *exist*, I just think Nintendo isn't making a lot right now, not enough to sell to third parties yet.

Because DK Bananza is only an 8~ GB game. Either it's wasting the majority of a 64GB cart or Nintendo has smaller carts for themselves right now.

Sometimes I'm just like "Man, how is the PS2 25 years old?"

Games on that system have full-ass voice acting, mo cap animation, open worlds, stuff we don't associate with "retro" games. And yet it's even OLDER than the NES was when the PS3 came out.

This for sure. Physical media is nice and I will prefer it every time, but disc rot is real, media breaks or gets lost or deteriorates.

True preservation is digital since it can be copied and backed up infinite times. Especially if we properly own it.

Reminds me of the way people complained that Animal Crossing NH had run out of content after playing 400 hours in 1 month.

It's like when people bought Elden Ring on PS4 to play on their PS5. Yeah it had a PS5 version (and even a free upgrade) but people actually chose to play the PS4 version without upgrade cause it just ran smoother.

My thinking is that dq 1&2 will just have a natural uncapped frame rate and maybe high resolution when playing the switch 1 version on switch 2, no update required.

If that's the case, I'm totally fine buying the switch 1 version instead.

DQ3 is getting a free upDATE that's increasing the framerate and resolution on Switch 2. (Like Mario Odyssey, Pokemon, 3D world)

And they're saying that DQ1&2 isn't getting an upGRADE to the Switch 2 version. But now I'm hopeful the Switch 1 version might run better on Switch 2?
