Fake it until you make it?

That’s something I would have a hard time doing. Prob why I haven’t made it. 😕

I tried this with (I believe) one of your train station recordings. My recording sounded far too muddy to my ears. Was curious to hear how it would sound after EQ matching.

For real. And I don’t think they taste particularly better than any other snacks. But something compels you to eat “just one more” handful. 😂

Ah, found it. 飛機餅. I stay away from them. Just eat one and the whole bag will be finished in short order. I swear they put crack in them.

I can one-up ya if I can think of the name of this one particular snack. It’s worse than having a huge bucket of popcorn (assuming you love popcorn as much as I do). Let me try and find it. So darn addictive.

I’m demoing this now. Really not sure what to think. Everything I EQ’d in the past now sounds a bit too shrill or overly EQ’d. Do I trust this thing or dial it back a bit? I do have hearing issues from years of DJ’ing with tinnitus on top of it. What to do, what to do…😕

That sounds somewhat similar to the Savanna nightjars we have here in Taiwan, but not quite as loud. They’ve been one of my nemesis when recording train pass-by’s and platforms. They just never stop screeching.

Is it worthy of Xiao Bai Yue status?

It has taken a couple of months, but they’ve gotten around to tearing them apart.

We used to put a bunch of boxes of those pod laundry detergent into one of our machines. It was popular for a time. But they’re so easy to get. This detergent…looks not so easy.

I like coffee. I like Doritos. But this looks awful.

Prob most of it is. But some of them have that cool vintage look that I like.

I see two or three things I’d buy there.

At those rates, sounds like I need to get into apartment cleaning.

My son travelled up to Yilan today to try and find a steam train. I’d say he did pretty good! Not and for a 13 year old. Better than me at least.

But I’m thinking maybe I’ll have to cut some holes in the old backpack to get the CM3’s in there in what I call “wide ORTF”. They sounds much better to my ears.

Thanks for the pics. Yeah, I was hoping to avoid punching holes in my old backpack so I bought this new one with zippers on the sides that can hold the mics in place without the clips.

My wife is the same after I kiss her unannounced.

I tried putting the CM3’s at the top of another backpack and cover them with my blimp’s furry (over baby ball gags). It works but looks so darn odd. 😂 I couldn’t think of another way to disguise them that won’t make people double take.

Yeah, for the bag I have in the pic they’re perfect. But I can’t get that bag high up enough to record on the train itself. At around waist level it doesn’t sound right to me. I bought a backpack I’m waiting to arrive to use with the clip mics. Hoping it’ll sound how I imagined.

Btw, my initial impressions of the Earsight mics are that they sound a bit “thin”. But I’m comparing them to the CM3 and KSM-141’s that I’ve been using on this project. I need to play around with the EQ some to see if it helps. Are the clippies similar?

That’s what my birder friend tells me when it comes to “what’s the best camera to have?” Whatever you have on you at the moment is the best one!

You’re probably right and I’m remembering wrong. I do believe it was mainly the RFI noise I was worried about.

Oh yeah, I had also worried about EMI with the 272 capsule. I saw some reports of it. I worried the EMI from the train power cables would give them trouble. They would sometimes wreak havoc with my Line Audio CM3’s. Earsight mentioned no prob with theirs. So kinda hedging my bets there.
