The Hogfather by Terry Pratchett
Sir PTerry intimately understood folklore and fauxlore. We're reading The Hogfather to the kids at the moment, an exploration of the dual God of Death and Rebirth (where each experiences the other), the nature and utility of belief and what it means to be human.

I'd have to go back and do an analysis of her books, but you're right early practices didn't have any elemental associations. I think it's really interesting, Gerald was obviously very knowledgeable about GD and ceremonial systems, but deliberately excluded it from his reimagining of what he found

You have to change the structure. That means thinking about power differently. R means decoupling it from public prestige. It means thinking collaboratively, about the power of followers not just leaders. It means, above all, thinking about power as an attribute or even a verb ('to power'), not as a possession. What I have in mind is the ability to be effective, to make a difference in the world, and the right to be taken seriously, together as much as individually.
