New Gumshoe or Carved in Brindlewood game: you play a murder of crows who investigate dead crows and you punish the murderers, often cruelly.

I guess that the player character crows have some spirit powers and are called upon when normal crows can't solve a case on their own.

You need main text, obscure references, secondary texts, rare texts that not everyone have read but reference. Multiple source of muddled info.

Meanwhile Dark Soul games often (but not always) succeed at that.

So many time we tried to tackle this issue in DnD, trying to make magic items feel unique and shrouded in mystery, myths and legends but kind of failed.

Also there is so many legendary magic items at the bottom of lakes, rivers and seas.

What I find fascinating when you examine DnD vs LotR: magic items in DnD feel mundane, even some amazing ones, beside maybe the artifacts. LotR mundane items like rings and crystal balls are filled with mysterious myths and lore that still strike the imagination when put on charts somehow.

I also played Death Howl a bunch, which I really enjoy. Beautiful art style, colour palettes, spirits designs and fun deck building. I really like primordial dreamlike shamanic stories too.
