I went to a mystery movie showing knowing there's a possibility that I wouldn't enjoy the film but I gotta say I didn't expect to watch a horse girl movie. East of Wall wasn't offensively bad or anything but I kept wanting some tragedy to fall on the characters so I could watch SOME action happen.

I need to mentally prepare myself anytime I open up a Wikipedia page for this research. idk why I hadn't until now, but I opened up Lockley's jp wiki page and most of it is addressing all the controversies ppl looked into since the Shadows shebang. It's so long it's so exhausting UGH

I guess I can hope that the shocked reactions from her fans will be a wakeup call to just how hurtful her words are (cuz my impression of ppl of her generation - based on my own mother a bit lol - is that they think distinguishing "good" and "bad" foreigners isn't a racist thing to do -_- )

Famous anime voice actress Hayashibara Megumi made a blog calling on her fans to to vote because some foreign students get scholarships, and some foreign tourists are rude.
She compared these unspecified bad foreigners in Japan to an "invasive species." ameblo.jp/megumi--haya...

Hayashibara has apparently been getting her news from YouTube Channels and has lost trust in the news she sees on TV.
Journalist Tsuda Daisuke has pointed to this as an example of why Japan needs more regulation of far-right/conspiracy internet content.

cuz I don't think it actually reforms people at all, at least not anymore. That's why I'm ultimately feel remorseful that someone she knows personally (or even professionally) didn't slap her on the wrist and tell her to stop being so hateful

I get that, the things she said are deplorable and pretttty darn hard to forgive. But I also get scared that the backlash she's gotten from this might radicalize her more...? Unless its a CEO or a politician I don't feel good about the internet lashing out on personalities...

It looks like the original post was edited a couple of times and she's apologized for it, but like... idk man, I don't like shaming and scolding ppl over posts too much but I think I'm allowed to be disappointed that phrases like "the good Koreans" were posted at all

As the account I rt'ed from mentions in her thread, it's confusing to me that (especially within the context of Japanese talent agencies) someone like Hayashibara was allowed to publish that blog post, or that no one bothered to check her writing before posting.
