For context our govt promised free tertiary education during their election campaigns, some of which even going as far as promising to abolish PTPTN. I guess in a way this is a first step into fulfilling that promise and I'm heartened that they decided to start with low income families

Like I said before and many times, the main core of ableism is that able people cannot imagine disabled people as happy. 100USD is 1658310.00IDR — this is a /lot/ of money for so many Indonesians. They - and by extension all of us - offer different prices for our fellow countrymen because if we charge following the US$ rate a lot of our own folks will be priced out of our art.

It's infuriating for Indonesians in particular because their currency is /weak/ against much of the rest of SEA by comparison. Here's how 100 of some of our currencies stack up against IDR:

— and esp with how expensive international shipping can be, doing that is extremely scummy. It's exploiting their labour and also robbing other Indonesian fans from buying art. This should apply to any and all Southeast Asian communities & other countries with a weak currency -

I've seen people from Europeans to Singaporeans trying to gain access to Indonesian merch prices because Indonesia has one of the worst currency exchange rates in this region, so their prices are really, really cheap in USD/EUR/SGD/MYR etc. but this exploits the hard work Indonesian artists do—

Just want to point out that if you see Southeast Asian artists having different pricing for their fellow locals vs pricing for anyone outside of their country, it's because we want to keep our art accessible to our own fellow countrymen. Those prices ARE NOT MEANT FOR YOU if you're a foreigner.
