It is absolutely frightening that we have gone from expertise to sheer ignorance so fast. Why is knowing how things work somehow a thing to be avoided at any cost - even if it's wrong?

I'm starting to get them from SMEs on their own software and the answers aren't correct. It's really really bad.

Ultimately I think the issue is that computers used to be a thing you could do stuff with - a tool. Now it's a thing that does stuff for you - an appliance. You need to know how to use a tool, an appliance you don't, just hit the buttons and let it do the work.

I hope this point is replicated around quite a bit, it absolutely needs to be understood. Youtube is not alone in it's control of context (and blind allowance of truly hateful material). Just about every social media funnel is just as guilty.
