Va.'s congressional Republicans urge Trump admin to review legislation to tighten oversight of VMI • Virginia Mercury
Five Republican lawmakers in Virginia’s congressional delegation on Friday sent a letter to President Donald Trump’s administration, warning that bills the Democratic-controlled legislature are…
Wittman objects to this: "Bills would require state’s oldest military college to reshape governing board, distance itself from Lost Cause mythology and promote a more inclusive campus culture "
This is somehow objectionable?
He and other VA Repubs are asking Papa Trump to step in. Pathetic.

I made this graphic to showcase the 2026 VA-01 Democratic congressional candidates who aren’t taking corporate PAC money. The color scheme is various shades of blue, white, and black. The white text at the top reads, “No Corporate PAC Money.” The subheading reads, “2026 VA-01 Candidates.” Next is a row of two candidate pictures in blue frames with their names beneath. These are their official campaign photos. From left to right, the top row names are Elizabeth Dempsey Beggs and Ericka Kopp. From left to right, the bottom row names are Salaam Bhatti and Tim Cywinski.
Now showing: digital zines for the Democratic #VA-01 candidates who don’t take corporate PAC money!
I made them into flipbooks for easy sharing. They’re a fun, quick way for young and low-engagement voters to learn about these candidates.
Links to flipbooks in thread. Please share. Thanks!

Wittman seems to comment lately on all things related to the governor and general assembly but he’s strangely silent about this hideous mailer sent out to people of color. Will Wittman and Kiggans stand up and condemn this racist mailer? Does their silence indicate acquiescence?

Using your folksy greeting does not absolve you of lying and misrepresenting the truth about the governor’s EO. Further, using law enforcement to make your point is pure fearmongering. Finally, you used a woman’s brutal death to score political points. Shame on you. Your constituents deserve better.

Wittman’s editorial is deliberate disinformation, intended to fool VA-01 voters into thinking Trump/Wittman policies are winning. They’re not. We’re worse off, less safe, and less healthy, and it’s getting worse by the day. Wittman is lying because he has good reason to be afraid of losing his job.

Wittman frames estate tax repeal as helping VA family farms, but USDA data shows only about 0.3% of farm estates owed any estate tax. The real beneficiaries of full repeal are ultra-wealthy estates. Meanwhile, Trump’s tariffs cost the average household $1,000+ in 2025 alone. 5/

Rob says ‘job creation has strengthened.’ Revised data shows 2025 added just 181,000 jobs, the weakest since COVID, and those were jobs associated with our aging population. In Feb 2026, the economy LOST 92,000 jobs. Unemployment is now 4.4%. This is not strength. Our labor market is in distress. 4/

Wittman credits Trump and Congressional Republicans for lowering inflation. In reality, inflation peaked at 9% in mid-2022 and fell to 2.9% by Biden’s last month in office - driven primarily by Federal Reserve rate hikes, not congressional action. And Trump’s tariffs have ADDED 0.7% to inflation. 3/

Wittman: The state of our union and the work still ahead
Despite recent national economic gains, Congress must continue pursuing policies to lower living costs, expand housing access, improve health care and energy affordability, and secure long‑term…
Wittman claims Americans faced 6.4% inflation ‘two years ago.’ That rate was from Jan 2023 - over 3 years ago. Two years ago, inflation was actually 3.5%. Rob cherry-picks data to exaggerate the decline and mislead us about the timeline. 2/

Wittman’s latest RTD editorial has more BS in it than an Oklahoman auctioneer’s yard. Hey RTD: is it policy to allow pols like Wittman to knowingly spread blatant falsehoods in your newspaper? Because this is RIDICULOUS. For the record, here’s the truth... 🧵

If Wittman wants to brand himself as “pro‑science,” he should start by aligning his votes on climate, air quality, and clean energy with the scientific evidence - not just showing up when research dollars are being handed out to universities in his district. /end

And when members of The Science Coalition were labeled "woke" by Trump, Wittman said nothing but nodded along in eager agreement. He happily accepts praise from universities but refuses to defend them or use their scientific findings when he votes. 4/

Wittman supports science funding when it flows to VA institutions and fits an economic‑growth story. That's good! But when science demands tougher rules on pollution and climate risk, he votes the other way. That’s not evidence‑based leadership; it’s selective science for political convenience. 3/

Rob Wittman is touting praise from The Science Coalition, a mainstream, nonpartisan group of 50+ research universities that lobby for strong federal funding of basic science. That part is real: Wittman has backed NIH and university research dollars in VA. But... 🧵

Good grief! This is the second post this week that has absolutely nothing to do with what you’ve been elected to do. This doozy combines the worst of your fearmongering about immigrants with your desire to “own” the new Governor. Get back to work saving us from pedophiles and our own Pentagon.

The Trump economy that Rob Wittman 100% supports is killing US jobs and businesses.
THESE NUMBERS ARE INSANE. Trump has added WAY fewer jobs than Biden, unemployment is ticking up…and we’re spending billions on a war of choice.
Wittman must hold Trump to account or resign so someone competent can.

Hey, Rob, Why are you polling VA-01 on higher costs, when these are issues for the Virginia Assembly? Could it be that you’ve done so poorly on national issues that you’re looking for a distraction? Go back to DC and vote for issues on behalf of your constituents and leave these issues in Richmond.

Reproductive healthcare hypocrisy
Wittman makes inappropriate medical decisions for his constituents
Do you want Rob Wittman in your doctor's exam room, making decisions for you? Wittman claims your healthcare should be your choice, and then votes against choices for all families. Rob Wittman's hypocrisy is dangerous.

Wittman's mailers are apparently sent from the Upside Down.
🔻 Jobs: 100,000+ jobs lost in 2025.
💥 Security: Wittman supports ICE raids, war in Iran, suspension of due process, and more.
🤒 Health: 44,000 Virginians have lost healthcare due to Wittman/Trump.
He has NO IDEA what we need. #FlipVA01

The cancer of Trump’s thought police is spreading, and Wittman does nothing. W&M Law School - the nation’s alma mater, where Jefferson and Madison shaped their minds - is too “woke” to train military lawyers, according to Hegseth and Trump.
What will Wittman do about it? We already know: zero.

Wittman blasts Spanberger for her policy on ICE, an accusation hurtful to the victim, misleading, and wreaking of politics. Spanberger’s order emphasized “collaborative partnerships” not a complete break. He had an ICE detainer in 2020; why didn’t the Trump administration deport him at that time?

So, Rob, what is the actual refund VA01 constituents can expect? Recent IRS data (2/26) estimate an average refund of $300-$351 not $1000 and that includes the 2017 tax cuts. He’s spinning so fast he doesn’t realize he’s lying anymore. We can’t trust anything that he says.
