NC Democrats, advocates warn of β€˜child care crisis’ as more centers close Child care centers are closing at an increasing rate, making it harder for parents to find affordable options for their children.

It would be great if this story (and the speakers at the State of Child Care in NC roundtable) mentioned that the Leandro Plan calls for eliminating the Child Care Subsidy waitlist and ensuring a NC Pre-K seat for all eligible 4-year-olds

It is extremely discouraging that the State Superintendent and the State Board of Education aren't making full implementation of the Leandro Plan the centerpiece of their legislative agenda (as they are rquired to do by an open court order)

Journalists should explain the implications of Berger's radical view: it means that only the General Assembly gets to decide what is and what isn't constitutional. That's clearly not how our democracy was ever intended to function.

We're two years into waiting for a Leandro ruling. The corruption of the Court is ossifying the continuing tradeoff whereby tax cuts for corporations are paid for by the unconstitutional underfunding of our schools
