Coast Guard helicopters are circling low over the river outside my house. I’ve seen them do this before and they were looking people that had fallen in, and ultimately drowned, last time. Prayers up.

I grew up with a big Catholic extended family where thanksgiving was a million people packed in a house. My wife and I each have one sibling, neither of whom are likely to have kids for reasons. So our daughter won’t know what that’s like at all. That kind of sucks. Imo.

This year we’re doing thanksgiving at a restaurant instead of anyone’s house. This was the best choice for various logistical reasons but I’m surprisingly bummed about it.
