I really want to see a Transformers cartoon or comic where one of the Autobots is a Cybertruck, and all it does is try to transform into a robot inside parking garages only to smash its head into a concrete ceiling.

One infill station on a spot where a station had been proposed in the initial system but was ultimately cut to save moneyβ€”that’s β€œambitious?”

My god, this country has no imagination to do great things.

It’s funny how Randy Clarke never responds to these kinds of posts. It’s almost as if they think that people being critical hate transit, instead of being its biggest fans hoping for it to meet and exceed expectations.

I know it's popular to say if Stephen Miller got laid and/or wasn't picked on in school he wouldn't be like he is. As someone who didn't get laid and got picked on in school I'm pretty sure there is something more deeply wrong with him than tough school days.

On Places: The Inhabitants of Sherwood Farmhouse Represent a Microcosm of D.C. History Brookland’s Sherwood Farmhouse, built in 1885, has stood vacant since 2015, hidden from public view. It survives thanks to practical necessity, happy accidents, intentional preservation, and…

There’s a 140-year-old farmhouse in Northeast D.C. known as the Sherwood Farmhouse. It’s been home to farmers, nuns, Jesuit radicals, and Howard theologians. Now vacant for a decade, its legacy is one of happy accidents, preservation efforts, and interracial activism. Tanya Paperny tells its story:

Absolutely fantastic! Thank you for the deep dive on this. It will be very interesting to see what happens to this whole parcel. I remember wandering around it 22-23 years ago when it all wasn’t so derelict.

Just the whole nature of the lack of democracy in the school system. I can’t imagine the status quo would last 5 minutes if more than 10% of the white parents in DC would actually send their kids to DCPS.

A New (Old) Look at Turkey Thicket An 1861 Civil War image appears to depict Fort Slemmer and the grounds of Queen’s farm, which lay between Forts Slemmer and Bunker Hill, in what is now Brookland and Michigan Park.

This is pretty cool, how the author figured out this is a photo showing the area that is now the Turkey Thicket Rec Center (and some of the northern part of Catholic University's campus).

What’s the better station to catch the shuttle to Art on the Avenue? Potomac Yards or Braddock Road?

Del Ray's open-air Arts Festival is one of the area's most popular fall gatherings, and it should be extra special this year as the artists' market along Mount Vernon Avenue celebrates its 30th anniversary.

Who's going to Art on the Avenue tomorrow? See you there!

(I mean, besides folks like @artologica.net and @tigerflight.bsky.social who I know will have two of the most popular booths there!)

Between this, the epstein list, obsession with trans kids playing sports, & neverending conspiracy theories about what's going on in schoolsin general, you realize that the primary concern of the Republican party and its supporters is their deep desire to abuse children

Fun facts for people newly unemployed and searching through websites like unemployment.dc.gov for benefit information:

- the website shows recent unemployment trends!
(recent = 2021)

- the website lets you know that they have recently sent out 1099-G forms for UI benefits earned in 2023

Timely!

Sprouts coming to the former McMillan site means that Sprouts isn’t coming to Edgewood (as had been strongly hinted at or better before). Too bad for Edgewood, but it is great great news that this city is finally going to have a Sprouts! Hope they hurry with that construction.

South Shore Residents Return To Ransacked Apartments After ICE Raid: 'It Looks Like Hell' A "now renting" sign outside touts granite countertops. Inside, residents are trying to make sense of the raid that made their already neglected building even worse.

Re-sharing & asking you to amplify: Every single fact about the South Shore federal raid just days ago is worse than the last. They kicked in doors & dragged Chicago families out in the middle of the night. I know we're all stressed but THIS IS VERY BAD blockclubchicago.org/2025/10/02/s...
