Craftsmanship. Usually regarding carpentry. But you are right, even 'well made old houses' are not anywhere near the efficiency available through modern materials. A lot of modern houses (1960+) also got a bad rep due to poor quality from contractors building entire neighborhoods on the cheap.

I think the issue I had is that when you have a very cool fantasy world IP built, then movie people are like, well we can't do that justice, lets just pull the characters out and put them in LA or New York.

I hate it when they take a 'fantasy world' and bring the characters into real world. I hated it when they did it with He-Man. I hated it when they did with Beast Master (2). Is there a good version of this trope? - and Bill and Ted or Howard the Duck don't count. That's different.
