He has very high level skills. High ceiling with his size and mobility. If he has the work ethic the Jets could have a dandy.

04.12.2025 18:25 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0One of the Jets' new wave of D prospects... Mobile, good puck skills, decent size.
The hope is that one or more of them develops into a Forsling type of D.

04.12.2025 04:45 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I agree. Lots of giveaways tonight. Samberg still struggling to find his form. Morrissey's D was pretty lax.
I thought Nino has a strong game.
Toews and line a few signs of life.
I'd like to see more of Salomonsson to let him stabilize but I think his days with the Jets are numbered.
I agree. The Jets have two lines struggling with LS playing his offside, and struggling badly (Iafallo and Pearson). Perfetti is showing signs of life and is at least good defensively.

Agree. I was interested to hear that when they decided to draft Engle they basically assessed which were the best skating D left on the board, and he topped the list.
03.12.2025 17:52 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Forsling is the prototype, maybe.
03.12.2025 17:31 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0The other category that the Jets seem to value is having a big, truculent D or two, even if they aren't particularly good at most aspects of playing D.
03.12.2025 17:24 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I can understand bringing Koepke into the line-up, since he adds speed and size. Not sure if taking out Nyquist is the right decision (I would have pulled Pearson).
Salomonsson needs to have a run. Pairing him with Stanley makes some sense, especially if they can shelter them a bit.
Found it...

Isn't Brown also a close buddy of the Jets' estranged prospect, Rutger McGroarty?
03.12.2025 01:02 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Interesting. Brown doesn't strike me as a high-end playmaker D, but maybe it's being a RHD? I like his size/speed combination. Seems to be a feature of Jets' D drafting in the past few years.
03.12.2025 00:36 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I don't think the Jets' defensive system matters if they don't have D that can retrieve and move the puck or forwards that can move the puck efficiently from their zone into the offensive zone.
03.12.2025 00:16 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Agree. Ehlers was an important force in zone exits and transition, in addition to his creation of space in the offensive zone. Now, Perfetti spends a lot of time stapled to RW trying to chip the puck out as he doesn't have good support for zone exits and transition. Might be better on LW.
02.12.2025 17:40 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0If the Habs skate circles around the Jets tomorrow, I think the writing is on the wall for this season vis-a-vis Chevy's approach. He's not going to invest in this team through trading futures, and I won't be surprised if he embraces a dip and reboot (without admitting it publicly at this point).
02.12.2025 17:33 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Pronger was brutally honest about how bad they were in transition D... just sagging in and making it easy for the Sabres to transition and enter the zone.
Shockingly slow team, and everyone has figured it out. The Jets' notion that really slow players can still play fast is just wishful thinking.
Jets are very legitimate candidates for a top-5 lottery pick if they don't rush Hellebuyck back. That would not be a bad season result, all things considered.
02.12.2025 17:18 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Yes, you can see Iafallo (and Perfetti) struggling on their off-wing, especially initiating zone exits and transition. Adding Duehr and Ford might give them more balance in "handedness".
02.12.2025 17:16 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0His game looks really dynamic at that level. His speed is noticeable, and that was one of the concerns about his game in his draft year. If his speed / skating becomes an asset, his hands and creativity with the puck gives him a high ceiling. Everything else is up to his work ethic.
02.12.2025 17:15 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0That would be faster, but as you note, it's major surgery & Arniel has been reluctant to make even minor changes. Don't see Toews sitting.
I agree that Duehr might be the better choice with Lowry, because of his size/speed combo. He's basically like Appleton, but perhaps not as much hockey sense.
As a start, inject more speed and size into the top-9.

Without a big trade, which seems pretty unworkable at this stage of the season, Arniel must find a line-up that is faster and harder to play against. It starts with sitting Schenn on D, not playing him top-4.
At F he needs to inject speed across the line-up to effectively play a pressure style.
Chevy has had a very poor 2025 in terms of roster construction. The trade for Schenn, followed by an off-season that made the Jets much older and slower is biting deeply.
But Arniel is compounding the roster weakness with player usage that accentuates the weaknesses. It's a deadly combination.
Stop taking stick penalties, DeMelo. That's a start for you...
02.12.2025 05:06 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Breaking up 81-55-13 will likely ensure the Jets have neither primary nor secondary scoring.
02.12.2025 03:09 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0And the rush looked absolutely ponderous, as two sluggish forwards trundled up the ice.
