look like vaguely worded memos which inspire concern, uncertainty and panic. It shouldn’t threaten vital services. It shouldn’t be rooted in hate.

We deserve better. Wisconsin needs funding and policy that delivers rather than attacks that distract.

Good governance isn’t flailing around with baseless attacks on β€œwokeness” β€œMarxist equity” or β€œtransgenderism”. It doesn’t…

According to the Legislative Fiscal Bureau, Wisconsin is estimated to receive $28.2 billion in appropriated federal investments over the 2023-25 biennium, many of which would be threatened by Trump’s freeze. I’m glad that the administrative stay will hold…

Opinion | Wisconsin’s Legislature has a growing Socialist Caucus John Nichols: With the message of putting working-class folks ahead of corporations and billionaires, socialist lawmakers are making gains in the Capitol.

β€œβ€˜The majority of people reject the notion that they should sacrifice and struggle so that corporations and billionaires can make more money.’ They want, [Rep Hong] suggests, β€˜an antidote to rising authoritarianism’… captimes.com/opinion/john...

Prison abuse, deaths and escapes prompt calls for more oversight β€’ Stateline As state legislatures convene in the coming weeks, many lawmakers are focusing on a key criminal justice issue for prisons and jails: more oversight.

"Prisons and jails across the United States are overcrowded ... jeopardizing the safety of incarcerated people, correctional officers and surrounding communities."

Of course, I agree. People who are incarcerated deserve better, safer conditions now. stateline.org/2025/01/13/p...

There’s still hope to save it, though. It’s up to @govevers.wisconsin.gov and my colleagues in the new legislature to prioritize keeping people in their homes. This is a common sense, demonstrably successful program for Milwaukeeans –we should make it universal, not shut it down. (3/3)

This was a choice, not an inevitability. The program has saved Milwaukee tenants from hundreds of evictions –and saved our justice system tons of $$ on enforcing unfair evictions. But it wasn’t a priority for the Common Council or the County Board, who only provided short term funding. (2/3)

After reading β€œEvicted” in college which is a case study on Milwaukee- I’ve never been more proud of policy I’ve been a part of and I know it can be saved.

Workers and supporters with protest signs outside a Milwaukee Starbucks location.

Today, baristas at over 300 Starbucks locations joined the walkout to demand a labor agreement. I’m proud to join the @sbworkersunited.org picket line in solidarity.

Luigi Mangione, UnitedHealthcare, and the American Health Care Scam A CEO’s killing brought frustration with American health insurance back into the mainstream. Here’s how we break free from it.

What violence are we taught to accept and what violence do we condemn? Thank you @crulge.urinal.club for this honest review

…Fully funding education with general revenue (including more progressive income and corporate taxes) would free up funds for municipalities and counties and allow a significant lowering of property taxes across the board.

Property taxes are regressive, falling much harder on the poor and working class (including on tenants when passed through via rent.) Wisconsin’s massive over-reliance on property taxes is squeezing residents out of homes their families have lived in for generations…

One of my biggest struggles in polyamory is having good taste in TV. I start casually watching a show, a partner starts watching it with me. Now it’s OUR SHOW. There’s no tv I can watch alone without betrayal

Where Do We Go From Here? Thinkers, activists, and writers share their ideas on how to respond to the coming Trump era.

@angelalang8.bsky.social and I wrote for @thenation.com and are extremely proud to be a part of their β€œWhere Do We Go From Here?” series on how to respond to the Trump Era. As β€œinsiders” talk about divesting from community orgs, our suggestion is doubling down.

It's happening!! The UAW will start their strike tonight, and for the first time in history they'll target all three big auto companies at the same time.

At midnight tonight workers will begin to strike at one plant of each corporation. Let's fucking go.
