Scammer tactic alert: Instead of cold-messaging you to commission them, scammers are now impersonating REAL members of the community.
Then they message you to ask if you want to get a pic with their sona together. The "artist" they will rec is a member of their own ring.

Now they are trying to butter up potential marks by striking conversation and asking about your OCs. Once you have given one of them money, more of them will strike up conversations with you.

Concerning art scammers: DO NOT confront them about how you "caught them". Not only are you teaching them how to improve their methods over time, but these are not individuals. They are often from crime rings who do this as their day job.
Report them to relevant platforms and block them.

Haha, well, since Draw Market is apparently very new to non Chinese users, no one has used it. One of our mods has signed up, and is currently testing the platform. It's missing some features Vgen currently has and is SFW only. The art is cute, though.

In the time we spent trawling the wayback machine and other archive sites to back up our tags, we found an artist with a cool headworld, neat characters, and fans who loved them.
To DFE and run instead of just paying back clients is such a waste. We hope you come back and do the right thing, Andrew

Beware : AroccoSuits
I contacted AroccoSuits to purchase a commission 2/7/2019. I sent payment ($550) on 2/13/2019. As of today, 4/4/2022, I have not received any evidence of work being done on the product I purchased and...
Update: artistsbeware.info/beware/submi...
Arocco tried to have his new username, SmashedOysters, removed from the post by lying about his identity to staff.
Instead of coming clean when faced with proof, he has DFEd all traces of himself
Known UNs: Fathersaeed, Recontryx, SmashedOysters, Smashed

Going to be a long shot, but has anyone heard from WrittenCommissions? The last anyone has heard from him is Aug 4th. He is very private, so I don't know any personal details to look up obituaries.
We were in the middle of launching a project we were both excited for. It's not like him to poof. :c

If it's Paypal it doesn't matter; your bank will force the issue on them. Unfortunately, your biggest hurdle is going to be the time. :( Most banks only allow up to 180 days. Some push it to a year max.

You'd be surprised how many people fall for it simply because these scammers butter people up about their characters and stories.

LRT: "I can turn your fanfic into a comic" is one of the current cold-openings being used by scammers.
The images are either traced or AI gen.

look, it feels tempting to make fanfics into comics, but i'm utterly scared. especially when someone approaches me to *commission* them without even i have asked or questioned about the idea.
besides i'm an artist and i can draw stuff too!

The images on these accounts will either be AI gen, stolen from legitimate artists, or traced from legitimate artists.
If the quality is all over the board or has the general "dead AI" look, be very wary.
Make THEM give up their discord first and then report them.

It is NOT one person. These are scammer rings who use a singular dummy account on a gallery site and members of their ring will contact you from their various discords.
If you fall for it once, they will keep contacting you to scam you again.

If someone contacts YOU to commission them, but they only take payment methods that offer no recourse (Zelle, Venmo, Cashapp), RUN.
If they contact you on a site like DA or FA and ask you to provide your discord/ tg first? RUN.
These all the hallmarks of a commission scam.

As we catch up here, we want to take a moment to strongly discourage Twitter DMs for primary communications.
We have seen so many circumstances that went south at no fault of either party due to the failing platform missing notifications.
We speak from experience and kindly ask:
