Water soluble encaustic painting of a cluster of ghost pipes growing out of a black background. These plants are parasitic on fungi and have no pigment. The pipes in the painting have blue and pink shadows because that's what I saw in the field. A bumblebee hovers nearby because these are flowers, bees polinate them.

Finished this one today. It will go to Cline House gallery after it dries and is varnished.

fun fact in the tarantula keeping hobby it is generally known that you should NOT give terrestrial tarantulas more than a few inches of headroom above the soil because they WILL climb the walls and they are very fragile and can simply BREAK AND DIE if they fall too far
