Trump is mad that the people who stole land from actual Africans are having the land removed from their possession. That's comical. Yep tell me again how this isn't about race.

The whole DEI is discrimination is fucking hilarious. Given the origin of the laws as push back for white racism. Leave it to white people to twist it into a victimhood position for themselves. The idea that MAGATS believe White people are being discriminated against and oppressed is f-ing comical.

The YAHOOS in Oklahoma are also buying 35,000 copies of the Trump Bible with taxpayer money.

Imagine demanding that the entire world bow to your thinking. Worse yet, imagine not even being aware of other ways of knowing. Ojibwe is a verb based language with no gendered pronouns. Imagine that.

Monolingual English speakers really think they have the market on all the knowledge. Ie epistemologies. The fact is the Ojibwe language is totally gender neutral and gives human-like reference to all animate beings. A rock, a tree, a wolf, the moon are people.

We spent a long time only having tribal citizenship. And frankly, with the way things are going- going back to that is starting to sound pretty good. They cannot deport us though. That's the kicker.

25.01.2025 15:28 β€” πŸ‘ 3    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

That is why I'm saying, Trump doesn't even know the lays he's trying to change. If our dual citizenship is an issue- then everyone's would have to be! These are the people trying to rewrite policies they don't even understand.

25.01.2025 15:26 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

No they don't. I'm not sure where you got that from. But my husband is a US citizen and has retained his Canadian citizenship as well as his Canadian tribal citizenship. I also know that friends of mine have dual citizenship to Russia and the United States. Japan and the United states.

25.01.2025 15:18 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

To this day we have dual citizenship of our tribal Nations and of the United states. Just like any naturalized citizen who retains citizenship to their Homeland. Having dual citizenship, does not make you somehow unloyal to the US.

25.01.2025 15:17 β€” πŸ‘ 2    πŸ” 1    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Which was then accepted by the tribes. Stipulations on taxes were put into place. Federal tax would be paid by all Native people no matter where they live. But if one resides and works on the reservation, they do not pay state taxes.

25.01.2025 15:15 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Prior to 1924, a stipulation for NATIVE American citizenship to the USA, one had to denounce tribal citizenship, leave their community and become subject to US taxes. Many did do this. Most didn't. For a long time it was like that. In 1924 the USA finally agreed to allow dual citizenship.

25.01.2025 15:11 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Then, we are just like anyone who becomes a US citizen and is also a citizen of their home nation, maintaining dual citizenship to both places. Having dual citizenship does not erase citizenship.

25.01.2025 15:05 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 1    πŸ’¬ 2    πŸ“Œ 0

First of all that is wholly incorrect. Once born, papers proving lineage to the tribe must be submitted. The adoption into the tribe as a citizen can take up to a year. At which point DUAL citizenship is given - to the tribe and that of the USA which is INSTANT at birth.

In 1924, the US government agreed to give us dual citizenship, of our sovereign Nations and of the United states. Prior to that we refused to give up our tribal citizenship in order to become US citizens. We are considered dual citizens, like many other people.
